The Walking Dead: Episode One Guide

Chapter 8

When you are back at the hotel again, Glenn will mention that things can’t be that bad to have to kill yourself when thinking of Irene. If you gave her the gun, Glenn will mention it and be upset about it. If you didn’t give her the gun, Glenn will just stare at her room and then leave.

Depending on who you saved in the drug store; either Carley or Doug, they will be in line to talk to while going through the conversation gauntlet. If it was Carley you saved, she will be messing around with a box and will ask you questions about why you saved her. The answers don’t affect the end of the conversation. If you saved Doug, he will be there working on a laptop and have the same questions that Carley had. As with Carley, the outcome of the conversation doesn’t affect anything.

I've been gaming practically my whole life, and The Walking Dead has proven to be one of the best gaming experiences of my life thus far. Sure, the gameplay was simplistic and the choices could have had a larger impact on the outcome but the story was excellent and the gameplay worked well enough to drive it along. I wish more games were of this caliber, and I can only hope that Telltale will take what they've learned from this season to make the next one even better.

So, it doesn't really seem like any of the decisions made in Episode 1 really effect much during that episode. I know they SAID that the decisions will span all the episodes, but I'm skeptical as that's a pretty bold promise. Will have to see how Episodes 2 and 3 fare before deciding on this one.

I don't think they really intended to, as the first episode is effectively the prologue. I won't go into detail for the benefit of not leaving spoilers, but there's an incident early on in which, although you have a choice, you cannot change the outcome. But, that's because the outcome is a very important story arc for the comics, so that's understandable. The choice made towards the end of the episode will have a minor shape (who knows, maybe on a larger scale) as to how the story develops later on but that's what made me hungry for more as it ended Trust me on one thing, if you've read any of the comics, not necessarily up to date, and enjoyed them then this is a must buy

Thanks for the reply! I realize my comment is short-sighted and won't be fleshed out until the finale - I'm just impatient and have a hard time buying a "season" up-front :) But I DID enjoy the demo, if I had more time to play games I would probably pick this up.
