Venus And Serena review

Documentary-makers Maiken Baird and Michelle Major have a heaven-sent subject with the Williams sisters.

Sibling rivals on tennis’ frontline, their story takes in life-threatening illness, racism, murder and a natural documentary star in their bollock- busting tennis coach father, Richard.

The directors assemble an impressive roll-call of friends and admirers (including Bill Clinton and Chris Rock) and are blessed with a hefty archive of vintage footage from the ’90s.

It doesn’t quite get inside their heads, but it’s brimming with vigour – rather like the girls themselves.
