Uncharted 3 may use PlayStation Move

You may be moving Nathan Drake with your body, but only if it fits with the game’s narrative, says Naughty Dog

PlayStation Move is coming – and we’re already ready to roll our eyes at the motion-controlled games ready to jump on the “Wii, too” bandwagon. But with the incoming peripheral come questions about the PlayStation Move and series that matter, like Uncharted. Although no official announcements have been made, Uncharted developer Naughty Dog, has already gone on record stating that they’d like to do more with the Uncharted series and it also turns out the studio is open to incorporating PlayStation Move into their next title as well.

Speaking to PlayStation University about the Move 3D technology, Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer said, “What we may do with this technology depends on how it fits into the story we want to do, so we haven’t made any decisions at this time. Generally speaking, it is an exciting technology to see come to fruition in the home, as it opens a variety of ways developers can innovate with their narrative and with their games… Utilizing the Move is certainly an option we would consider – again, if it fits in with our narrative and design goals.”

It’s hardly a confirmation, but the prospect of controlling Nathan Drake with the PlayStation Move sounds promising. If anyone is going to inspire us to get off the couch, it might as well be a silky smooth, motion-controlled Nathan Drake.

I agree with CH3BURASHKA, but they should test the two against each other on maybe a modified version of U2 before they make a decision

If it is optional, I welcome it. I will give it a try to check it out, but I prefer the Dualshock.

As good as Naughty Dog and Uncharted are, I really don't wanna see it befowled by Move (unless there is also a controller only version). uncharted 2 already did such a great job of putting me in the game, soon it'll be like futurama where you put on the helmet and go into the game x]

For what it's worth, I would trust a developer like Naughty Dog to do something with motion control much more than some random developer making a casual party game. They will genuinely put out their best product possible, so I doubt it would break the game.

I don't like the aim-boxes motion controllers use; they're uncomfortable for real gameplay. As long as the main game (and multiplayer) is completely playable using a regular-ass Dualshock, then they can do whatever they want. I'd be curious to see the breakdown of people using Dualshock vs. Move, and which side is more adequate. There should be a Dualshock Vs. Move mode in the multiplayer just for the heck of it.

@kiwicrossing im sure if Uncharted 3 did have motion controlls they would be completely optional to use a standard dualshock so it can't really hurt to include motion controls.

@LionheartAce You are spot on about the great controls in the Prime Trilogy, but those are FPSs. I thought Uncharted was more of a Tomb Raider clone. I'm not sure how well motion controls will work with it.

Stop hating, Metroid Prime Trilogy is a great example of pointer controls being superb. I can dig Move being a part of this.
