Ubisoft buys Anno developer Related Designs

Related Designs, developer of the Anno series of historical strategy games, has made things official with Ubisoft. After years of collaboration, the publisher upped its stake in the German studio from 29.95 percent to 100, Ubisoft announced this week.

Ubisoft has published Related Designs games since it acquired its previous shareholder, German publisher Sunflowers Interactive Entertainment. Both Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery in the U.S.) in 2009 and Anno 2070 in 2011 were already released through Ubisoft.

The 65-person team will continue its work on browser MMO Might & Magic Heroes Online and--we're just guessing here--more Anno games.

I never bought this game for the sole reason that it always appeared that someone went crazy with the bloom filter. Every screenshot ever was blurry.
