Twelve sequels we actually want

Game needing a sequel: Kid Icarus

Original game format: NES

Why it needs a sequel: Kid Icarus is another of Nintendo’s neglected franchises which would seriously benefit from a Wiiboot (Sorry). The original game is widely regarded as a classic, but suffers from the old 8-bit problem of instilling enough frustration-fuelled rage in the player to have them smash their own head into liquid using just the controller. But with a modern reworking, the concept could really come into its own on the Wii; the combination of platforming, shooting, and a winged protagonist makes it a perfect fit.

And besides, Ninty has been dropping hints about this one since 2005. Between Miyamoto’s teasing, lead character Pit’s comeback in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the game’s re-release on the Virtual Console, we’re beginning to feel we’re being reminded of the franchise just a little too much for it all to be a coincidence.

What we want from a sequel: A full 3D reworking. Movement with the analogue stick, jumping with the A button, bow aiming with the remote, and let’s make the most of Pit’s wings shall we? A bit of remote flapping would be the perfect control system to allow some really instinctive mid-air manipulation. Get on with this one now Nintendo (Assuming you aren’t already on it, of course).

i think that a game that needs a sequel is ssx tricky. they could make a new version on the wii with the balnce board. i think the game would kick ass. and to push you shove with the wimote and numchuck

I'd add Little Big Adventure to the list, the last game of the series is more than a decade old and there is still a community supporting modifications for it, fan made content and so on. Just youtube it and you'll see for yourself. LBA fans scream for a sequel more than anything else around.

One game that really, really needs a sequel? So much so that it spawned it's own imitation series in the wildly acclaimed Fallout (because then developers Interplay couldn't get the rights to the actual IP). That game? Wasteland. Unless you've been gaming since the Apple II and the x86, you might not have heard of this, but rest assured it is one of the greatest RPG's of all time. As previously mentioned Interplay (and now Bethesda in their footsteps) created a legendary RPG series that many felt was the spiritual sequal to Wasteland, but as great as Fallout is, it's not the same. EA has been sitting on the rights to this game for decades. Why they haven't done anything with this IP I'll never know. One thing I do know? EA owns one of the greatest RPG development studios in history (Bioware). They own one of the most classic RPG's ever made. Someone over there needs to put two and two together!

Road Rash, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, and Earthworm Jim all desperately need sequels. Those games gave me some of my best memories from the Genesis. I'd throw Gunstar Heroes in there too. Take a Castle Crashers-style approach and make a top-notch 2D game that recaptures the feel of the original with HD textures and online co-op.

I comepletely agree on Road Rash. But I have to agree with Spokes350Z, Republic Commando needs a sequel. It almost breathed out a sequel! The end of the game was a start to a new mission. WTF!?!

what about Star Wars: Republic Commando. That left off on a cliff hanger and it came out in 2005.

Kid Icarus, of course, would be awesome, but I'm amazed they put Blast Corps on here. I swear I thought I was the only person that played that game. I loved it though, so I'm stoked to see it on the list. Too bad Microsoft owns Rare now though, it woulda been cool on the Wii. Zombies Ate My Neighbors was cool and I'd love a sequel, but I've been talkin about a new Killer Instinct for a while and I still don't know why they haven't done it.
