The people who gave us Tetris and vodka may have accidentally given us verification of the existence of Mass Effect 3 as well. A Twitter message from Sony's Russian team confirming the game's existence on the PS3 has been pulled, but not quickly enough to prevent it from being seen.
The Twitter post has been translated to say, "Company #BioWare Award for #VideoGameAwards showed a teaser, in which we can see the first footage #MassEffect 3."
The Twitter account, PlayStationRU, appears to be an official Sony-sanctioned account (but it's always hard to know for sure), and despite the poor translation, the tweet clearly suggests that Mass Effect 3 will be officially announced and debuted at a video game awards ceremony. The #VideoGameAwards hashtag refers to Spike's Video Game Awards on December 11, so perhaps this tweet was meant to be posted after that.
BioWare has already teased that it plans to debut a new game at the VGAs, but has been tight-lipped about any further details. We don't currently expect the game to be Mass Effect 3, though rumors of a Mass Effect spin-offs have been floating around. Legit or not, this tweet adds yet another layer of mystery to the upcoming announcement.
