Trials Evolution editing tools could give Xbox 360 its LittleBigPlanet 2. Trailer shows best FPS ever to appear in a bike game

Damn fine game, Trials HD. Damn fine game indeed. Had no qualms with beating you over the head with the Difficulty Stick mind, while at the same time teasing you back again and again with the dangled carrot of sleepless addiction. In a lot of ways it was the filthy dominatrix of the stunt racing video game world. But hey, I'm basically good with that.

I was though, a bit dubious of what the Xbox Live Arcade sequel, Trials Evolution, which arrives this spring, could really add to the original game's perfectly honed, noose-tight mechanics. Well it turns out that the answer is "everything". Because as this new trailer shows, the game's new level editor allows you to make absolutely anything you want, from Space-Invaders-style shooters, to full 3D racing games, to pinball, to helicopter and birdman games that look a bit like Pilotwings, to Micro-Machines-style arcade racers, to the best FPS ever seen in a bike racing game*.

Frankly, I have no idea how it's doing any of this, or what the hell Trials Evolution really even is any more, given the huge spread of stuff it can obviously do. But I do know categorically that I am now very much in.

*Since 3D Deathchase, obviously.

Trials HD was my most played Xbox Live game, the perfect controls and the addictiveness of it was just far ahead of anything else on there, and still is in my opinion. When I heard they were doing a sequel, I was expecting the same game with some new backgrounds and a couple of new minigames, but it looks like they've just turned Trials into "the only Arcade game you'll need for the next year". Can't bloody wait.

    Even if it were 4800pts, I'd still pick it up. (that's $60.00, PS3 players -- it's dumb, I know.)

Stuff any platform exclusive, this is now officially the best of 'em all!

Trials HD took up waaaaaaaaaay too much of my time. Looking forward to this, and amazingly so is my gf who barely plays video games.

I was crazy excited for this game. LOVED the first one, but after seeing that, my heads about to explode.

Looks pretty epic, I might get it this time but Im scared the difficulty will mess me up. Might save it till summer.

Looks really cool, but I have absolutely NO idea exactly what it is. Trials HD was what Trials had always been: Racing a bike through impossibly challenging levels. This one's like Little Big Planet, but instead of legs you have wheels.

Hmm...if this game will let you download other people's custom maps/tracks/whatever-the-hell-people-dream-up, count me in!

Yes you can, they just showed it in the trailer

Ha, what the fuck is going on with this game? I was more or less comprehending this until I saw the top-down shooter and FPS bits. The multiplayer racing should be really fun.

WHAT!?!?!?! Does this just give you the game engine to screw about with? This improves the Xbox's exclusive line-up this year by one million percent if so!

I gotta say, I wish this were coming to PS3 as well. I guess I'll just have to stick to LBP2
