Trailer shows why it's a pirate's life for Assassin's Creed IV

Shares

Edward Kenway, Caribbean assassin, pirate captain, baby-Haytham-haver, once sailed for the Royal Navy. But when a treaty between the European powers resulted in--as our modern parlance would say--widespread redundancies, he didn't go back home to England.

Kenway tells us why it was a pirate's life for him in this new trailer for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Darting around beautiful islands, exploring diverse cities, and commanding ships through improved naval battles sound like just the sort of assassin memories we'd like to jump into. The shark attacks we could take or leave.

I know this has nothing to do with the trailer, but with ACIV and Watch_Dogs having simultaneous releases for the PS3 and PS4, I think they should give a free copy of the PS4 versions for people that buy it for the PS3. They've done something similar for people that bought games that was on the Vita as well. They've already made digital releases of the games a big thing on the PSN Store, so all they would need is to send voucher codes via email. And if the PS4 has a huge harddrive like I'm thinking it will, it could handle a full library of digital games. Plus, it would incentivize people into buying the PS4 by giving them two free games for the platform.

I enjoyed the first two, not so much the third. In my opinion, for a series with such depth and attention to detail, the gameplay and story seem to just get rehashed from game to game.

Can't wait. But they better let me take off the hood because I'm not going to be a pirate lord and hide my face.

oi, did you hear that? it's a young white man with a hoodie, and he's out for revenge! by this stage, it's hard to tell if they fell into the alex mercer trope or intentionally overdid it.

I don't think they're quite there yet. If you recall, Mercer was actually dead and the embodiment of the virus or some whackadoo nonsense like that.

Well, Assassin's Creed came out two years before the awful Prototype games, and revenge has always been a large part of the story since the first. If anything, Prototype ripped off AC.
