Trailer for Hunted, Bethesda's fantasy shooter, is low on Elf boobs, high on dodgy cockney accents

Remember Hunted: The Demon's Forge, the fantasy co-op actioner coming from Fallout house Bethesda? Don't worry, word on it has been so sparse for so long that I'd as good as forgotten about it myself until I saw this new trailer. And I wrote our first preview on it.

Looking back on said preview though, it seems I rather liked what I saw of Hunted. It's another co-op cover-shooter, yeah, but it blows the concept wide open with its totally asymmetrical characters (long-range Elven archer, close-range, melee-focused barbarian), fantasy setting and heavy use of tactical magic. It looks a lot of fun, and this new trailer shows off a pleasing amount of what looks to be a rather sumptuously-detailed world for you to kill your way merrily through.

But don't worry, I've included the E3 trailer too. That one comes with a bit more Elf-jiggle.

Aaaaaaaaaand cue the E3 trailer, with lots more killing:

Seriously though, what is it with that crap, half-cockney accent being default for all genero-English characters in American media? It's everywhere from games to Family Guy. Let's have a bit of diversity, shall we, devs? How about a few Georgie gnomes or Brummie Pyromancers? Has Fable taught you nothing?

Cheers muchly, SixthAxis.

@thejadefalcon... you can't hear me? Why would you be able to hear me (or my 'ignorance')? I believe you are the ignorant one for not knowing what physical senses you are using in your day-to-day activities. For example, as you are READING this you are using your sense of sight, NOT your sense of hearing. If you need further clarification, I'd be happy to assist you! Have a Merry Christmas!

I think you meant "Geordie" accents, not "Georgie". At least they're not murdering Scottish accents, that's worse than the Dick Van Dyke Cockney!

In fairness Heavy Rain is guilty of the same thing just in reverse; Europeans make generalizations too.

Play DrangonAge and everyone and I mean EVEYONE has a southern English accent bad ones too. It's that annoying impression that world seems to have of Britain that it consists only of England, when it's really made up of England, Wales, Scotland and Northen Ireland and each has owen plethora of accents pretty much like the US or any other country. My guess is that most devs are either too lazy, cheap or don't know euff to exploit that effectively

    Well, that looks surprisingly awesome....

    @Turboash Ha! Crazy Brits.

If Michael Bay made a high-fantasy game...

I think that most americans (or nearly anyone outside of the British Isles) aren't familiar with, or even aware of, your variety of accents. I know I wasn't until I started to listen to TRUK (and it took me time to understand what nathan says, too). Cockney accent, being relatively distinctive and sounding farther from US accents than most others, is probably the easiest way to make americans think of "Ye Olde Worlde", or Narnia. I guess. For further perspective: Also, I think COD series is worth a mention as an example of doing it right.

"Georgie gnomes or Brummie Pyromancers? Has Fable taught you nothing?" Dude, you missed out Glasweigan Gargoyles, which Fable 2 had in spades.

@Turboash: Sorry, what was that? I can't hear you over the sound of your ignorance.
  • Turboash - December 20, 2010 6:26 p.m.

"Seriously though, what is it with that crap, half-cockney accent being default for all genero-English characters in American media? " Because no one gives two shits about getting your awful, barely comprehensible accents flawlessly perfect, that's why.

I thought this was gonna be brilliant but, tbh, after seeing the gameplay videos i'm not all that impressed
  • juicenpancakes - December 20, 2010 6:02 p.m.

This isn't being developed by Bethesda, right? Just being published if I remember right.
  • zenprime - December 20, 2010 6 p.m.

I'm getting a little peeved with this game. I got to play it at the Zenimax booth at PAX back in September, but since then I've barely heard a peep about this. I enjoyed my time with the demo at PAX and was hoping to see a demo on PSN/XBLA before 2011.

    This game looks pretty cool.
