I much prefer the original luigi's mansion. And guys don't encourage Nintendo little do most people know is that they are the greediest of the big 3 console creators and usually try to get you to buy as many new consoles as possible by instantly stop last gen games creating so the prices drop of them when the next gen is released and making "improved" versions everyone "must" have. I would rather not have to play good games on a Nintendo console as from the way their sales go pretty much any game I like fails on a Nintendo and ones for little kids like picmin succeed.

Why would a company release a new console and keep feeding the old console with games? Especially if the new console offers backwards compatibility. What the fuck's the point of that? Gaming companies could just release old console games knowing you can play them with the new console as well. Why bother mass-producing 2 discs?? We need MORE plastic garbage in our dumps?? And then for the console company, they're hoping you'll pick up your old games and join them on a new system, a system you don't even need because they're also going to keep feeding the old console games, but they hope you'll pay $600 anyhow. Some people will pay the $600 to say they have the newest thing (and a handful will buy them only to break them for 'fame' on youtube). No wonder systems price drop. It's hard to get bored if the console is still getting new games. New games that could make you crave to spend the $600 price tag even more if it was exclusive to the new console. Nintendo's doing it right, in a business sense. Call it greed but one quick look at google for pricing shows Wii U is the less expensive system. If their strategy is to be cheaper than the others, of course they should want to sell more.

But think about it how many people wait for price drops to buy new consoles as not everyone can afford one, so people wait, buy the console then games stop being made for it. It is unfair especially as next gen games cost more than current gen even if they don't look different significantly enough to be worth the extra money. When games stop being made for your console it's value drops significantly so you could only get a small part of the money back you bought it for so people can't afford next gen until the price drop and the cycle continues people wait, buy the console then games stop being made for it. I know this from my experience and all the other people I know, the thing they does stops people staying loyal and buying more from them over staying with them because they have a bit of leeway to keep on current gen until you can afford a bundle with a couple of games in. This is the reason why in places like where I live only a small few people use Nintendo because everyone else uses Sony or Microsoft consoles where they can play with their friends and put off the looming next gen until a price drop or they are ready for it but to still get new games they are looking forward to.

If you can't afford it, save until you can. That's life, unfortunately. Honestly, with a record breaking game like GTA V released only about a month or so before the PS4 releases, I think Sony missed a big marketable step. If they convinced Rockstar to hold GTA V and make it only for the PS4 to release the same day, sales at the get-go may be greater than what they will be. We won't really know if that's for sure now, but a record breaker + new console exclusivity should = better sales. As many units as Nintendo sold with the Wii, I think only a small few people anywhere actually use it. It was aimed towards casual gamers. Casual gamers tend to drop off from playing for periods at a time.

Even Microsoft couldn't have ponied up that kind of cash. Rockstar makes money hand over fist by releasing across available platforms. Although I do agree both companies should have put aside their rivalry and done what they could to convince rockstar to make the game a next gen release. It would have been mutually beneficial. But then, it's the disease of modern business to be worried about short term gains and forget that if you want to keep selling apples, sometimes you have to tend the trees. It's not just in the video game industry, either, but it's there that some of the more severe of the consequences of this behavior will manifest soon, failing a dramatic course correction.

Yes, sorry. When I said exclusive to the PS4, I meant compared to releasing it on the PS3 as well. Yes, the game should have been released on PS4 and Xbox One, and not the other older systems.

The greediest of the three? last I checked all console companies stop making games for the old console once the new one comes out. Sony stopped making games for the PS2 once the PS3 came out, and Microsoft stopped making games for the xbox once the 360 came out. And I can guarantee you that Microsoft and Sony will stop making games for the 360 and PS3 once the next gen consoles are released.

The most recent PS2 game came out only a few days ago and most games still came out for PS2 for about a year after PS3's release, I don't care about xbox because I've got nothing to do with them but Nintendo within days stops all production for their current console and moves onto the next one. The sixth generation of consoles is still happening as PS2 hasn't stopped having games made for it with the eighth generation coming out Sony has made PS2 games for the whole life span so far of PS3 which is around 7 years longer than the original xboxes life span and much longer than the game cubes life span. PS2, xbox and the game cube are all from the same generation a lot of people haven't even heard of the game cube but most people know what a PS2 and xbox are as they weren't cut of like they never existed. Do you think people will forget about the PS3 and xbox 360 like they did with the game cube? I don't think so, even the wii has become nothing more than a foot rest to most people.

Ahem... 'picmin', or rather 'Pikmin' is really not aimed at kids any more than the original Yoshi's Island was - both require a lot of skill, Pikmin even more so; it takes some brains more than skill to play the Pikmin games. Games don't have to be realistic and be made up of greys and browns. I do agree that they are the greediest of the big 3, and also disrespect Europe the most and treat us as a 2nd class continent in terms of support, availability, quality and pricing - to the point that they even region locked the 3DS (so I just imported a US one). But the people that put the love and genius into creating games like Pikmin, Zelda, and yes - Mario (who has stood the test of time because of how good the games are) are not the same people who do the marketing and pricing and - dare I say - decide that remakes need to be made with minimal investment and effort. Who made Wind Waker be cut short during production? Marketing people. No-one makes games quite like Nintendo, and no-one treats its gamers like complete shit quite like Nintendo.

  • jimmyselix - July 10, 2013 6:42 a.m.

all i really want is: Mario Bowling using the Wii Sports bowling engine but adding tournaments, different game types, etc.. instant millions!

An achievement system is the one thing that holds me back from buying a Wii U. I did game before there was an achievement system, but now that I have it, I cant game without it. Even my PC games, Diablo 3 and The Sims 3 have achievments....
  • XNam360 - July 10, 2013 10:05 a.m.

Exactly. I am repelled from the Wii U for the same reason.
  • JaiGuru - October 22, 2013 3:52 p.m.

Of course! Achievement systems add more to each game by default. It gives you a means to play against yourself, leading you on to try harder and harder things within the game. And reward systems inherently are REWARDING. This is what I meant in an earlier post that Nintendo just has not learned the lessons of the modern industry. They are behind in their networking architecture. They clearly do not understand that models for digital distribution are not analogous to those for physical product distribution. They have not learned how to leverage positive feedback from in-game mechanics, system wide achievements being a great example. Their entire company is a decade behind where they should be and they need to remedy this with a corporate overhaul. Old guard figures need to be retired.

A Pokemon MMO would just ruin my life, in a good way. Just keep everything the same but put it in a MMO format.
  • gtaivac_ - July 9, 2013 5:25 p.m.

  • GR HollanderCooper - July 9, 2013 7:01 p.m.

  • bitcrusherrrr - July 9, 2013 3:21 p.m.

I'd buy a wii u if sega throw afew more of their ips on it, sega rally, outrun, house of the dead (overkill 2 please) virtua fighter, crazy taxi etc (ooo shenmue HD). Netflix style virtual console would be amazing, i've considered signing up to onlives netflix style service where you pay a monthly fee and get loads of games but theres not much i want to play.
  • pokepark7 - July 9, 2013 2:59 p.m.

  • JaiGuru - October 22, 2013 3:58 p.m.

And that's why you never will. Nintendo simply is incapable of listening to what its customers want.
  • Fireninjastar - July 9, 2013 1:08 p.m.

I want everything... EXCEPT a Pokemon mmo.
