It doesn't really matter if you feel that it's 'right' or 'wrong' to have sex in video games, because the fact of the matter is, is that developers are going to keep including it in their titles if it keeps bringing in the dollar.

i see no problem with sex in video games the only time i would not watch a sex cut scene is when my dad is around because he would make jokes or gross noises but i see no problem with it i have played DAO,dragon age 2 and all 3 mass effect games and it don't bother me for instance in DAO you romance the person you like they fall in love with you then you have sex no big deal the only one that i kinda have a problem with is Isabella in dragon age two she just shows up at your house and has sex with you not that she's a whore and has to go see anders your healer so he can get rid of her std's other than that no problem with sex in video games at all.

Ok def disagree with this article with most stuff.... cept for the part where americans are ashamed of sex... that is true and this article proves just that.... but the rest i really disagree, especially with the last one with win condition for sex... Last time I remember it takes work to get the sex... if your just getting it handed to you... then that might be gross... and you should check your local clinic to see if you got any "rewards" >_>

I like how this article constantly says we, us, our and other collective pronouns as if everybody shares these views. I literally couldn't disagree more with this article. Especially at the sex is a win condition part. For men, that's exactly what it is in real life. If you do good enough, you get sex. That's how it goes and how it always will go.

I guess SR4 changed that win condition rule by having a causal sex button

Say how "creepy" it is if you want, but people obviously want Sex in Games. Go to SkyrimNexus and look at all of the Sex "Mods" for Skyrim. not my cup of tea, but those Mods are getting made and getting an awful big number of downloads. Sex sells everywhere else, why wouldn't in Games?

I play games to ESCAPE reality. The reality is, I get laid more frequently than not. As I type this, Belinda is going to town. So, developers, I don't want sex in my games. I want psychopath robots, magic crystals, zombies and crazy viral outbreaks that I ultimately help contain. Although Italian plumbers that RESEMBLE Ron Jeremy are ok. But keep thasssssssssse skasdl vzjm .xxx Sorry, Belinda's friend Samantha just joined in. Gotta go.

Sex as a win... I'm pretty sure that socially we are already conditioned to view it this way, both men and women. I mean, isn't that how most people see sex? The phrase "I got lucky last night," can be used to describe gambling as easily as it can sex. Furthermore, a girlfriend once explained to me that dating is setup like a game. You've got pick the right conversation paths to advance to a date, you've got to make sure you bring the right key items, i.e. flowers and chocolate, you've got to donate to the end game by paying for dinner and buying nice gifts, and then you have to hope you "get lucky" at the end. The girl that pointed this out is a feminist who actually believes in equality, and feels that dating is a sick, twisted method for women to take advantage of men because through dating women expect to get special treatment simply because they are female. I suppose that explains all the dating sim games. Looking at the example above, I would expect virtual sex to be something that is eventually developed by/for men simply because you have an absolute certainty to "win sex" in a video game if you follow the right steps, but in real life you have to "get lucky" because you have to hope the woman is inclined to reward your efforts in the first place and not just taking advantage of you.

I'm not sure I agree that sex is a 'win' condition for women, especially female characters in games. In real life if as a woman you 'give away' sex too early, you're labeled as a whore. If you don't have sex with a guy even after months of dating and him treating you amazingly, you're a bitch. Or 'getting it' from somewhere else and are therefore a whore. It's a win condition for women in games if you look at it as the man wins, you get sex because you are his winnings. I'm not sure if I've ever played a game with a female protagonist that gets sex from a man if she does everything right.... Beyond Two Souls comes to mind, but then Jodie panics on the bed and it doesn't happen. In the end of the game she wins her choice of relationships. Which is different to winning sex. There are plenty of games that let you have sex with characters throughout the game, but that's regardless of gender since you can pick both male or female (Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, Dragon Age, it's early and I can't think of others).

Most of the girls I've asked have generally responded that sex is a win if it's what they want. That was a little confusing to me, so I asked a friend of mine who is a lesbian if she feels that sex is a win. She mentioned that it depends on who is pursuing who. She feels that when she is the pursuer sex is a definite "win," but if she is being pursued then it's not as clearly defined. If she isn't interested then she feels pressured, but if she is interested it's a win. However, she stated that dating is an outdated concept and prefers it when people are simply upfront about wanting sex. She says that dating is for people who are already having sex, as dating to get sex puts ridiculous social pressures on both parties.

I was certain that it was a woman who wrote this. Maybe even a feminist. Now after checking out the writer I am sure that the writer is gay, hipster most likely. Gay hipster.

Let's talk about a nice moment in gaming, not so much in regards to sex, but intimacy. In The Darkness, you visit your girlfriend's apartment early in the game, talk a little, share a moment, sit on the couch, cuddle, relax more, share a kiss, and nearly fall asleep watching TV. This moment has no predetermined end, you can sit as long as you want. You feel warm and at peace, and it's a rare moment in any medium, to be brought so wholly into a moment with a character. If intimacy in games was done more like that, I don't think there'd be anything to complain about. It's a lovely moment that sets up a major plot-point for the game and precedes the game's biggest emotional trauma. You really feel that moment, an I think it's something game developers should have a lot of respect for.
