...Huh, Excuse my ignorance of US History, but I never knew taht the president you met in MGS3 was an actual, true to life one... Which is extremely bizarre, considering that the presidents used in MGS2 were both completely made up. Also... wow, talk about completely weird and random ending for the Conduit 2... And for that matter, that Lincoln inclusion in the fight club game... a game I actually forgot it ever existed.

At the time MGS2 also took place 6 and 8 years in the future. Plus, one president had to be a made up person simply for plot reasons. Having George W be a clone of Big Boss would be bizarre even by MGS standards.

Exactly, I'm not saying they should have used real presidents for MGS2, but BECAUSE they did, having an actual, real president in MGS3 feels in contrast, a bit weird. But then again, his involvement is really so minimal and circumstantial that unless you knew American history (And I didn't) you can't tell one way or the other XD

As "iluvpkmnmonday", Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 took place in the future. Metal Gear Solid 1 came out in 1998, and was set in 2005, and Metal Gear Solid 2 came out in 2001, and was set in 2007-2009.

Why are you people assuming I don't know the time-line? I'm perfectly aware of it, it was simply something I found curious, mainly because before i hadn't realized that Johnson was in fact a real president.

honestly(sadly), i would venture a guess that your knowledge of LBJ isn't that far behind most americans. actually, i would also guess that most americans would think that was an acronym for lebron james... make of that what you will.

I can understand not being aware of Johnson, especially if you're not an American, but I don't find it that curious. Off of the top of my head, I can't think of a single major piece of media that is set in the past yet features a fictional president without being clearly set in or explained as being an alternate historical setting. However, plenty of media has a fictional president if set close to the present/in the future, so why would that mean that every president in history would end up being fictional because of that one fictional president? I just don't find the use of both fictional and actual presidents to be surprising or curious, because it takes an odd leap of logic to assume that they're all fictional in the first place.
