Star Wars' Daisy Ridley wants to star in a new Tomb Raider film (and John Boyega agrees)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley says she's definitely up for the title role in a Tomb Raider film reboot, and thus the Tomb Rey-der dream lives on. Ridley, who played the young scavenger turned Jedi prodigy at the heart of the Episode 7, told The Hollywood Reporter that there "have been conversations" about her taking the part.

The project is in the very early stages and is lacking a script, so any discussions have been informal. “I'm waiting for someone to say 'I want you, let's do it'", Ridley said. Wherever the conversations lead, the newly famous actress is eager to start 'filling up her calendar' between and beyond Star Wars Episode 8 and Episode 9.

John Boyega, Ridley's co-star from The Force Awakens, encouraged her to take on the role after he played the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, which follows a younger Lara Croft at the unexpected beginning of her adventuring career. He also wants EA to add a "full on story mode to Star Wars Battlefront", but that sounds a bit less likely.

“I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version”, Boyega said. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘This is you!’ and ‘You need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be".
