Tomb Raider HD Trilogy comparison screens compare, contrast
Crystal Dynamics smooths out Lara's PS2-era polygons
Along with Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia,Tomb Raider will soon be getting a shiny new PS3-exclusive HD trilogy release. The compilation will include remastered versions of Tomb Raider Anniversary, Tomb Raider Legend, and Tomb Raider Underworld, as well as some exclusive new content. But what difference does all this HD retouching actually make?
Good thing I asked that question for you, because Ripten has posted several comparison shots, and based on the admittedly small, pre-selected samples, the upscaled games are looking as alluring as Lara's footloose life of adventure. I know, I thought I was going to say "boobs" too, but sometimes I surprise myself.
The collection is out March 22, and if it's being treated the same as the Splinter Cell and PoP trilogies, it'll be available as both a PSN download and retail Blu-ray copy for $39.99. Though the other collections were initially pegged with the same release date, listings now indicate an April 19 release for Prince of Persia, and a June 21 release for Splinter Cell.
