Tom Cruise reunites with Edge Of Tomorrow director for sci-fi flick Luna Park

Two-time collaborators Tom Cruise and Doug Liman are set to make it a hat-trick, with Variety reporting that the pair will team up for Liman’s long-gestating sci-fi flick, Luna Park. The duo worked together on 2014 smash Edge Of Tomorrow before repeating the trick on cartel thriller Mena, which will hit cinemas in January.

The film will follow a group of former space explorers who set about travelling the world, collating the equipment they need to head back to the moon in pursuit of a valuable energy source. Cruise is in line to star in the film, provided the next draft of the script is up to scratch.

Jake Gyllenhaal had been attached to the project back in 2014 before dropping out, after which Liman met with a whole host of actors including Chris Pine and Andrew Garfield. The project looks to have been revived, however, with Skydance hopeful that a deal can be struck with Cruise. No release date has been confirmed as yet, although it may be some way off, with Cruise already committed to Jack Reacher 2 as well as the next instalment in the Mission: Impossible series.
