This week's Overwatch news: Doomfist in Minecraft is AMAZING, plus new comics and some incredible plays

Overwatch is a truly dynamic game, which means there’s always something new going on behind the scenes or in the community. Each week, we’ll have a round-up of the latest game news. That might be balance notes, character rumors, esports announcements, or just unmissably funny gifs. Here’s what Overwatch fans need to know for the week of July 24.

The long-awaited Doomfist will finally be arriving in regular play with a patch on July 27. If you haven’t had a chance to try out the new offense character on the PTR, then prepare for a fast-moving and hard-hitting hero.

Doomfist comic: Masquerade

Blizzard announced Doomfist with a brief origin story video, but now you can learn more about Akande Ogundimu and his reunion with the shadowy Talon organization after escaping imprisonment with Overwatch in the latest comic, Masquerade. Be sure to check out the Madefire motion book for the full multimedia experience of the story.

Background info is great, but how about more gameplay? No problemo:

Doomfist vs Doomfist

Remember the credo of every Blizzard game ever: don’t stand in the shiny stuff. Or in this case, don’t stand in the splash zone of Doomfist’s ultimate, even when it looks like he just jumped to his own death. (Source)

Overwatch x Minecraft = YES

Finally, we have a crossover with one of the other most joy-filled games: Minecraft. Redditor MrMakistein recreated Doomfist in the blocky world, perfectly capturing his look and abilities. It even got props from Blizzard lead software developer Bill Warnecke, so you know it’s something special. (Source)
