These Creepy Pokemon look just like "Scary Stories" illustrations

The thing about '90s kids is that only they remember certain things. And two of those things are without a doubt Pokemon and those Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books - even if you never managed to work up the nerve to get past the super-creepy art on the cover. Artist David Szilagyi has begun the grim task of combining those two, working his way through the Pokedex in the most unsettling way possible.

Here are the original three starters, Nopeasaur, Nopemander, and Mustbegoingnowtle, as well as the Pokemon Sun & Moon starters.

Sweet merciful heavens, I figured Charmander was a carnivore, but I'd never really thought about it before. That poor Pikachu. You can pledge to Szilagyi's Patreon if you want to support his horrid journey through the nostalgic crypts of our collective subconscious.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
