The Top 7... Rockin' intros

5. Guilty Gear X2 (PlayStation 2, 2003)

No series - outside of Guitar Hero - packs more rawk than Guilty Gear. The creators even went so far as to add a guitar-shredding witch, I-No, to the series with this installment. She's named for world-famous producer Brian Eno, who worked with U2 and David Bowie - one of the series' many allusions to music.

If a game's that obsessed with rock, it better roll, right? This intro proves that Guilty Gear can do just that. With a mix of animation and wailing guitar, you'll be primed to fight in moments. Heaven or hell? Let's rock!

Great intros, but that duck guy from Suikoden III makes me want to punch someone in the face.

I LOVE the Tales of the Abyss intro! gets to me everytime! anyway, I thought that you should have done Dragonball Z Budokai 3 too.

Hey could you guys do a best intros article? I've been thinking about you guys doing a top seven Badass game intros ever since I first played Bioshock and didn't press start soon enough. I also love the L4D2 intro it has a great rock sound track

Where the hell is soul blade. It should definately be on the list. It had a brilliant soundtrack and great introduction to each character.
  • chiboribo - September 27, 2009 8:19 p.m.

Great job guys. The only other intro I would've included is the Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume intro video.
  • TheKitchenSink - November 10, 2008 10:26 a.m.

Needs moar Custom Robo. Its intro is both completely badass and has some pretty neat music. Also the Drakengard 2 intro. Kind of along a different vein than what the article is going for here, but it's certainly worth a watch.
  • handdestr - September 28, 2008 9:39 p.m.

the sonic heroes was kinda cool. i think u at least shoulda put that in there
  • madadam - September 26, 2008 4:09 a.m.

Command and Conquer: Red Alert had Hell March as the intro! HELL MARCH!!! I always used the C&C jukebox to play this song while tank rushing! It was the best.

ZOMGWTFBBQ AND MOAR LETTERS!!! That Tales of The Abyss intro was freaking EXTRA-MUSICIZICAL-RIFFIC! Man I need that game with a damn passion now. I am kind of dissapointed the Eternal Eyes intro was missing. But, i guess it doesn't quailify as "rockn'". Too bad.

Key word here is "Rockin'," guys. In the musical sense. Not necessarily the awesome sense. Yes, the Silent Hill and Onimusha 3 intros were badass, but were they set to bitchin' hair-metal riffs and wailing guitars? No, they were not. Therefore they failed to rock in the manner defined by this article.

How about Karate Champ on the NES, that seriously kicked ass.
  • FancyRat - September 13, 2008 8:06 p.m.

The music from the first one makes me want to kill the shit out of Dracula. And some Medusa Heads. Those mother fuckers.
  • Yo2252 - September 12, 2008 10:23 p.m.

the Kingdom Hearts intros were pretty boss to. # 2 in particular.
  • Ravenbom - September 12, 2008 7:39 a.m.

Maybe should have traded out the Silent Hill intro for Wild ARMs intro or FF8 intro and called it Top 7 Japanese Intros or Top 7 Anime Intros. Damn it! Now I'm all pumped up from all those rawking intros! Now I'm going to be up all night and tuckered out all day tomorrow.
  • PastItAll - September 12, 2008 3:21 a.m.

No Onimusha 3 Intro? It should have been #1 by far. It is the best non MGS video to date. The ending video to Onimusha 1 was amazing too, but thats a different list.
  • drprofessor - September 12, 2008 2:16 a.m.

I love the Silent Hill intro for life. It's always been a fav (hell they all pretty much rule.) But what about the Sonic CD intro? That was pretty boss. Other than that great list.
  • Xplosive59 - January 29, 2009 5:52 p.m.
