Guitar Hero is great and so is Rock Band. Unfortunately, Konami’s Rock Revolution isn’t. Want an expensive drum kit controller that’s not nearly as good as the Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour ones? Want to play along to cover versions of songs instead of the ones by artists you actually like? Of course you don’t. Nobody does.
It’s been over 12 years since the last Dragon Ball Z anime episode aired. By now, there are countless Dragon Ball games on just about every system. Enough is enough people. It’s time for us to get over our fascination with Son Goku and the so-so fighting games he stars in.
Like the bazillion titles that preceded it, Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World for the PS2 does nothing to really raise the bar for fighting games based on the DBZ universe. Instead, it actually lowers it. The usual over-the-top moments that are chock full of fast paced counter-counterattacks and oversized energy beams have been replaced by the ‘Exciting Skill System.’ As you can imagine, it’s not all that exciting, and brings things down to Earth with boring punches, kicks, and watered down special attacks that can be customized.
Tedious chores like jumping through gates and collecting coins help make Infinite World even more infuriating to fans of the anime and manga. If you get a copy of Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World for Christmas this year, see if you can trade it in for a used copy of Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
