The Top 7... Games we want announced at E3 2011

5) Shadow Complex 2

At its start Xbox Live Arcade was merely a showcase for bite-sized, fun experiences that wouldn’t really work at retail, games like Pac-Man CE, Geometry Wars and Uno. Since then much fuller experiences have been showing up and expanding just what downloadable console games are capable of (Hydrophobia and Limbo come to mind), though the potential of XBLA games never looked better than with Shadow Complex in 2009. SC was treated like a major release, not just some quick cash-in, and we feel it’s long overdue for a sequel, if for no other reason than to push the envelope all over again.

Built with the Unreal 3 engine, Shadow Complex wore its love for Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on its sleeve, but it certainly wore it well, looking better than any game like it ever had. The mix of high production values and retro love made it an instant hit and one of the best sellers in XBLA history. Even though SC developer Chair has been busy making huge money off iOS hit Infinity Blade, the devs have stated their willingness to make a sequel, it’s just a question of when. With Sony showing off impressive looking PSN titles like Journey, Microsoft will want to reassert itself as king of DLC, undoubtedly with a new Summer of Arcade promotion. The surprise announcement of another Metroidvania coproduced by Epic/Chair would give that promotion just the prestige it needs.

4) Quantic Dream’s new projects

Heavy Rain was officially one GR editor’s most favorite game of last year. It was by no means perfect and there was plenty to point and laugh at, but it was certainly a different (in a good way) console gaming experience. And we desperately need more of those. Ideally with fewer dodgy accents and a plot that won't fall on its ass quite so easily under scrutiny. But let's not rush things. One step at a time. With the guidance of boss man David Cage, Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream is clearly interested in approaching video games from a fresh, exciting angle.

Above: Heavy Rain. It's not a shooter

We know that Quantic Dream is working on two still under-wraps projects at the moment. We know that neither of those projects is a Heavy Rain sequel. But without wandering into the woolly realms of speculation and guesswork, that's pretty much everything we do know for certain. However, if Quantic Dream does decide to use this year's E3 to reveal at least one of its secret projects, it's guaranteed that it'll be unlike anything else at the show. Unless, of course, Activision surprises everyone by announcing Call of Duty: Emotional Warfare.

3) God of War 4

For a while there, we really thought we’d had enough of Kratos. His story – or at least, the story of his revenge against the Greek gods –concluded with God of War III, and the quick follow-up from Ghost of Sparta didn’t exactly leave us wanting for albino-psychopath action last year. We’ve since gone on record applauding the developers’ decision to give Kratos a break, at least for now. But hey, even a little oversaturation can’t take away the fact that God of War is an excellent franchise, and as fans, we want to know what’s next. So if Sony decides to tease a new God of War at E3 – even if the actual game is years away – we’re still excited to see it.

Above: We might see this re-released on PS3 as a PSP Remaster edition, but that’s not what we mean

Will it be a sequel? A prequel? A wholly unnecessary cash-in that retroactively taints the entire franchise? These are just a few of the burning questions we want answered. There’s also been a lot of speculation that a new God of War would pit Kratos against a new pantheon of gods, or that he might not even return as the protagonist – we’d like to see that settled, too. Whatever God of War IV turns out to be, though, it’s guaranteed to be interesting – and so long as it ends up delivering the same sadistic brand of gore-spurting hack-and-slash as its predecessors, we’ll probably have a lot to look forward to.

My analysis was like.. 95% right :D

Combat Evolved remake!! It's almost certain that it'll happen, but I am still soooo eager to see what they can do with it. My only concern with it is if 343 messes up with it even a bit, it'll ruin their rep with any future Halo titles or Halo projects.

I think what with Skyward Sword being pushed back a lot that Super Mario 3DS needs either a July or EARLY August release. Gamers have been wanting for some good 3DS games for a while. Rayman 2 pfffftttt what console has that not been played on , Super Street Fighter 4 great game but I already have it on Wii ? We are getting Ocarina 3D shortly but it's not enough to fill the gap we gamers need , which Super Mario 3DS would fill and fill and fill some more ! I'm talking 120 individual stars give or take a couple of remakes here and there I would love to see a Galaxy form of Super Mario Bro's. 1-1 for a level where you pay coins or something. The 3DS is amazing . Project Café seem's incredible but right now I think Nintendo should do what they did with the 3DS announce it give a demo here and there and then pretend the announcement never happened and then have a conference where everything is revealed this time including the international price and release this would make people strive for more Project Café I for one would strive everywhere for project cafe news and be more hyped when it actually comes. Nintendo should do this and then repeat last year's plethora of 1st party games , Nintendo blew the show last year when they revealed the 3DS and a floor showing then continuing with Kirby,Donkey Kong and Zelda this ould be repeated but this time Nintendo should include Pokémon in their conference especially with the 3DS' abilities. With my massive Nintendo analaysis I figured I give Sony one too ;) Sony should give a price and release date for NGP and give a LOT of floor demos. 1st party games are a must for Sony at the moment especially what with the Hacking.. I think maybe a New LittleBigPlanet and God of War would break the house down along with some new Psn games. Microsoft (Meh cant leave Gates out) Microsoft are doing great lately selling kinect and those millions of consoles and all. Microsoft should save a new console announcement for next year if they want the NGP to die down so that they can milk it for a big release late next year heck they could announce the thing at E3 2011 and just shut up about until next year .. this gives time for people to cry over their 1st party 3DS games and the NGP release. Microsoft should play it safe and bag some exclusives like GTA 5 they should go all out on 1st party games , Halo , Fable , The Witcher 2 could use some screens on Xbox 360 and then an ORGASMIC amount of Kinect games. This is my E3 analysis that I made becuase I'm bored ;D

"the continued success of Kinect" - We have WILDLY different definitions of "success" I guess. I personally don't want to see any more FF's for a while (and I'm one that owns most of them so far). They've flooded the market and really need to take a few years and make it fresh again. As someone else said, this years E3 is very, very below average. It's just something to pass the time until the real new systems are announced next year. The one thing I really want to see happen is Nintendo stand up in front of a press conference and say "OK, we screwed up huge with the 3DS. We're immediately stopping production of it and doing a buy-back program for those we already suckered. Sorry." (to cut off claims of an anti-Nintendo bias by me, I also hope that the NGP gets cancelled immediately.)

Nah chill, Luigis mansion needs a second chance to show how great and creative it was. I agree with most, Personally, after seeing Goodfeels take on Wario and Kirby with Warioland shake it and kirbys epic yarn, It would be interesting to see what they would do to yoshi.
  • Smeggs - June 1, 2011 9:55 p.m.

I thought QuanticDream was working on some Jurrassic Park game or something?
  • rainmanruss - June 1, 2011 4:09 a.m.

Dance Central 2... the MEGATON! Who knew they'd ever blow that dust of that franchise and bring it back to life. Everyone. Halo CE remake... we all know it's happening. Halo 1, looks like Halo 3... next! God of War 4? Really? Does anybody really want that? If we're making ridiculous wishes: Panzer Dragoon Saga 2! Metroid Dread! Starfox Wii! Castlevania 2D HD on Cafe! Metal Gear 5! Resident Evil 6! c'mon.
  • Dredgon - June 1, 2011 12:39 a.m.

    Battlefront 3!!!!!
  • Crypto140 - June 1, 2011 12:25 a.m.

Star Wars Battlefront, and what ever happened to the Heavy Rain Chronicals? I want to trade in my Heavy Rain but I know once I do they will release more Chronicals.
  • Shforteenteen14 - May 31, 2011 11:51 p.m.

Y'know what? I really hope a CE remake isn't what 343 has planned. All the fanboys are just going to complain how it wasn't as good as the original, and they'd probably be right. You can't "remake" nostalgia. The online would be terrible. 343 will probably put the 3sk Pistol back in (to make the "die-hard" fans happy), but they probably won't remove Aim Assist (to make it accessable to the "Average Joe"). Bad combo, if you thought the DMR spam was bad... Plus, like you said (kind of), Chief's last installment was in '07. Since then it's been "Halo... BUT DIFFERENT!". A Halo CE remake campaign would either A) Suck, like I said before B) Be exactly the same, like Foxhound300 said. Reach was an utter failure because Bungie tried to make it classic and new at the same time. I have a strong feeling a CE remake would end up the same. But you know what? I still have faith in 343. I just hope they release Halo 4 instead of another "not-quite-a-sequel".

You guys are missing the most obvious one: Bayonetta 2.
  • BishopofHippo93 - May 31, 2011 8:06 p.m.

    Shadow Complex 2, please.
  • Kieran712 - May 31, 2011 3:48 p.m.

    MGS5? Anyone?
  • philipshaw - May 31, 2011 3:28 p.m.

Good list. I want to see a new MGS
  • The_Tingler - May 31, 2011 3:15 p.m.

What a dull, dull list. God of War 4 - are you serious? If there's one game that does not need another sequel, it's that. Final Fantasy XV - not a chance, PS3 hasn't even got the last one yet, and even announcing it would get a round of mocking. From me.
  • CitizenWolfie - May 31, 2011 9:07 a.m.

I think God of War 3 ended pretty well and I didn't feel the need to have more of Kratos after. Maybe something a bit further in time featuring the love child of Kratos and Aphrodite (from the GOW3 mini-game)? It could even incorporate the battle of the 300. It'd be quite interesting to see a new mythology set though; perhaps Norse mythology as it features similar kinds of Gods and their distorted relationships as Greek mythology. Otherwise I'd love to have a Grim Fandango HD remake or a brand new Monkey Island.
  • jameshalsey - May 31, 2011 8:34 a.m.

An announcement from Rockstar about a sequel to any of their previous big-hitters would satisfy me (other than that table-tennis game....)
  • quincytheodore - May 31, 2011 7:20 a.m.

In FF XIII defense, I think the characters are okay, not great or Bioware's level, but it's not as cliche as the others JRPG. For one time, FF doesn't use princess / damsel-in-distress. It's not "Main hero... and six other people... save the world!" Sure, it needs more polish, but it's a step to good direction, compared to the previous, XII. You know what would be awesome, Persona 5. I mean, seriously, the franchise is successful critically and almost commercially. I'd buy it... Come on, Atlus
  • jhab007 - May 31, 2011 6:43 a.m.

    Hey Gamesradar.. are you ok?
  • Cloud1Fair3 - May 31, 2011 4:51 a.m.

Oh my god. Fellow gamesradar-ers(?), I'm proud to see some of you as well appreciate the awesomeness that is The Legend of Dragoon. A sequel would be nothing short of mind-blowing. Just be smart Sony and re-boot that franchise to represent RPGs. Also, if God of War 4 does happen it should focus on a new pantheon of Gods as Kratos single handedly destroys all ancient mythology ushering in the age of reason. That or he unleashes chaos from its slumber.
