The more casual and less demanding approach to the management aspects also makes the game much more accessible than your average Sims game. Their wants and needs only increase once they've got beyond simply "surviving" and start to build permanent living arrangements.
The scaling back on the menu systems could upset die-hard PC fans. But as a concept on the PS2, it works brilliantly with some of the greatest feelings of achievement you'll get from a Sims title.
