The Ring 3D

There’s a third Ring film in the works – US version rather than Japanese – and guess what? It’s going to be in 3D

The first US The Ring (2002) was based on a Japanese 1998 horror film, Ringu , though the gore was toned down for a PG-13 release. It turned Gore Verbinski into an A-list director. The plot concerned a haunted video tape; anybody who watched it would die horribly in seven days’ time. Although the original Japanese Ringu inspired its own set of sequels and spin-offs, the sequel to the American version, Ring 2 , was a completely new story. Confusingly, however, it was directed by the man who helmed the first two Japanese Ringu films, Hideo Nakata.

David (Dream House) Loucka is taking a first stab at the script.

According to The Hollywood Reporter ’s Heat Vision Blog , “The new film is being fashioned as more teen-centric than the first, and though the logline is being kept under wraps, the aim is to reinvent the franchise. One potential scenario involves teens finding a VHS player that still works.”
