The professor is retired, but Lady Layton is ready to solve puzzles in 2017

In case you hadn't heard, the next Professor Layton game won't be starring the titular professor. Today, we finally found out who the next game will feature: his daughter, Katrielle (or "Kat" for short). A "Professor Ladyton," if you will.

Unfortunately, developer Level-5 doesn't have the same fondness for puns that I do. The game will actually be titled Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone's Conspiracy, and is slated for release sometime in 2017. It'll be coming to Nintendo 3DS, as well as iOS and Android devices.

The game's premiere trailer is in Japanese, but it looks like the trademark fondness for puzzles is intact. Plus, it looks like Lady Layton has a dog companion. Who talks! And whose… uh… butthole keeps facing the camera. Lady Layton; it's a video game!
