The Illusionist trailer released

The Illusionist

The Illusionist has had a new UK trailer released online ahead of its upcoming cinema debut.

Partly repeating some of the material from the earlier Russian trailer, this new peek gives us a far better feel for the film, which was made using a script originally conceived by French mime and director Jacques Tati.

"It's not a romance, it's more the relationship between a dad and a daughter," says director Sylvain Chomet of the story, which follows an Illusionist who finds himself contending with more modern entertainments like rock and movie stars.

A bit like a gorgeous-looking 2D animation attempting to compete with the 3D CGI likes of Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After .

Still, it looks stunning. Check out the new trailer below…

The Illusionist opens in cinemas on 20 August. Will you see it?
