Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter (2002) – Ps2
Or, “Star Wars: Oh Shit, They Made Another One,” as it was unofficially known. Still, at least it was marginally better than its predecessor, with more interesting vehicles, a less fussy storyline and sharper controls. That said, it still fell well short of being “Any Good.”
Worst bit: The occasionally severe slow-down during battles.
Star Wars: Revenge Racer (2002) – Ps2
A sequel to the Nintendo 64 classic Star Wars: Episode I Racer. Unfortunately, the age-old cliché that “sequels are never as good” held firm, and Revenge Racer was universally panned. Luckily, it marked the end of the “third-rate racing game” chapter in the checkered history of the Star Wars videogame.
Worst bit: Without doubt, the shockingly brief single-player game.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2002) – PS2
To coincide with the release of the foul Episode II: Attack of the Clones, LucasArts released this, yet another ill-conceived, half-hearted Star Wars action fart-about. A lackluster single-player campaign and poor animation consigned it to the great trash compactor in the sky.
Worst bit: The poor on-foot sections.
Star Wars: The Bounty Hunter (2002) – PS2
A second spin-off from Episode II: Attack of the Clones, this hugely repetitive action-happy shooter attempted to plaster over its obvious gameplay shortcomings with high-gloss cinematics and presentation. It failed miserably. So miserably, in fact, that even the black-hearted mercenary Boba Fett prefers LEGO Star Wars. And that’s official.
Worst bit: The unreliable, wandering game camera.
