Gears of War is the game that many feel will become the killer app for Xbox 360 but, with the UK release still months away, we'll have to make do with drooling in anticipation over another batch of screenshots of Epic's squad-based sci-fi shoot-'em-up. While the game's premise of a group of marines blasting horrific monsters isn't new, the way it has been executed is. There's huge emphasis on teamwork in Gears of War, with every level designed with cooperative play in mind, either with fellow gamers or the excellent AI help. From these screens it's obvious that the game makes the most of 360's status as a next-gen console to create a visually stunning experience with intricate detail lavished on both the human heroes and the nightmarish cannon-fodder.
