The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector’s Edition fully detailed

Bethesda Softworks has announced the full details for the collector’s edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In addition to the rough and tumble parchment map previously revealed, the collector’s edition will include a 12” statue of Alduin, the World Eater, a 200 page official art book, and a DVD featuring “The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” documentary.

“We always say that we make the games we want to play. We can also say we create the collector’s editions we’d want to own,” said Bethesda’s VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines in a prepared statement. “We all want one of these!”

We all want of these, too! But the premium collector’s edition for Skyrim won’t come cheap and according to Bethesda, supplies are “extremely limited.” The collector’s edition is available for pre-order for $149.99 (US), €149.99 (Europe), £129.99 (UK), and A$199.99 (Australia). We found listings on Amazon.comGameStop.com and all the other usual places.

Gawd, why do WE have to pay $200? No thanks.

Well like Halo Reach's statue CE I didn't bite. This will be on Amazon's Gold Box sooner or later as well.

Wow, that's a ridiculously steep price for what's in there. Besides, the map is the most badass thing in there and you get that if you preorder the game.

i dont have too much of a problem paying 150 for a collectors edition and i love that statue but theres just not enough else in there to justify the purchase, i want a book with story background like oblivion, or even a nice thick journal like with reach

The statue looks fuckin' awesome, but the price tag's massive. I already made up my mind I was gonna buy the Gears 3 special edition, and, as much as I'd love to get this too, I've got nowhere near enough. plus, Making-of DVDs and Artbook's don't really interest me all that much.

Welp... I'm glad I heard about this AFTER I decided to pay off Gears of War 3's Epic edition. And statues seem to be all the rage, not that I'm complaining. But DAMMIT, I'm a collector. Fuck you, college, from preventing me from getting yet ANOTHER $150 edition of a game.

GAWD I want that 200 page official art book, and a DVD featuring “The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” documentary.

I miss the $70 (?) collectors edition for Oblivion. Oh well, regular edition for me. Awkward conversations will be started about that statue. "It's from a game" "oh..."

well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and while I can justify buying this edition(I have a job and literally have nothing else to spend a chunk of said income on) I can understand other people hesitating because of the limited contents. DLC, even just new weapons, spells, and armor would help a bit. or, even better, a 400 page art book!

I would prefer to pay something like 89.99 and get the art book without the statue honestly.

One-fifty is a fairly hefty price... to justify that price, that Alduin statue would have to be made of some top-grade material (such as pewter or something - none of that cheap plastic crap that breaks easily), and I doubt it will be. Well, either that or it should have one hell of an artbook and making-of DVD.

I do love a good collector's edition. But they really missed the mark on that price. . . Sorry Bethesda.
  • D0CCON - August 5, 2011 10:20 p.m.

@kassmageant I'd pay $300 if they added horse armor and removed everything else in the collector's edition (even the game).

OOOoooo, i do want this, but $150 is alot for what you get. i only really want the map and the art book. I have other CE games with a making of DVD, you only watch that once. The dragon is cool, but $150 dollars cool?
  • dillman502 - August 5, 2011 10:01 p.m.

Was waiting for collectors edition, didn't think it would would be this much but I still might bite.
  • mockraven - August 5, 2011 9:51 p.m.

Ah, sadly I'm more excited about the dragon statue than I am the game. I just get that way over collectible dragon sculptures, though.
  • Kage_No_Shi - August 5, 2011 9:36 p.m.

I am going to get this. Hopefully the DVD is actually subtitled (they rarely are, and the Oblivion dvd was no exception).
  • kassmageant - August 5, 2011 9:21 p.m.

@ db1331 yeah well, cheaper for sure - at least i'm not aussie - the hell they did to the world that games are so frickin expensive?? on the side note - put horse armor inside collectors edition - then, price will be justified
  • HankVenture - August 5, 2011 9:17 p.m.

well.. there goes a big ole chunk of my pay cheek... WORTH IT! Hopefully..
