The Deadpool 2 writers want Hugh Jackman to cameo... but not as Wolverine

Hugh Jackman may have called it a day as Wolverine in Logan, but that doesn’t mean a potential cameo role in Deadpool 2 is off the table. The writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are open to suggestions, including one potential idea that gets around the fact that Hugh Jackman is no longer playing Wolvie.

The Hollywood Reporter, in an interview with the two screenwriters, suggested that Hugh Jackman should play himself in Deadpool 2, especially as Jackman’s, uhh, face has already made an appearance in the franchise. The movie could pretty much get away with anything at this point (including Brad Pitt possibly playing Cable) so, sure, why not?

Responding to the Jackman cameo idea, Reese said, “Oh my gosh, that's one we haven't heard. That's not a bad idea. I like that. Deadpool lives in a world where Hugh Jackman is out there. He's got the People's Sexiest Man Alive cover that he staples to his forehead in the first movie, so maybe he could meet Hugh as Hugh. That would be really funny.”

Don’t be surprised to see Deadpool 2 take a few shots at the gritty Logan (and Hugh Jackman) for good measure – even if the Aussie doesn’t show up in the sequel.
