Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper has signed on to new Arbian horror movie Djinn .
Scripted by David Tully, the plot follows a young Emirati couple who return home after a trip to the US and find that their new apartment has been built on top of an old village. Most importantly, said village was home to an evil Djinn.
“The horror genre speaks an international language and I am so pleased to be involved in a project with Imagenation Abu Dhabi that will transcend cultures and borders,” says Hooper.
“Simply put, this movie will scare everyone, no matter where you live or what you believe in!”
Shooting on the film will kick off in the United Arab Emirates this month, and Hooper will have horror director Nayla Al Khaja on hand as a cultural consultant.
We wonder if Hooper's watched Wes Craven's Wishmaster for inspiration...
