It’s been nearly two months since Rogue One: A Star Wars Story came out, and since we haven’t seen any footage from The Last Jedi yet, maybe you’ll be interested in checking out this slick Rogue One concept art from lead concept artist Matt Allsopp. He’s been sharing a ton of behind-the-scenes art on his Instagram account that gives us an idea of how Gareth Edwards’ movie came together during development and was even shaped during the production. Take a look at a few of my favorite images.
This sketch of the film’s opening scene ultimately inspired the design of Director Krennic’s ship:
A wide shot of Darth Vader’s tower on Mustafar, complete with lava flow:
A closer shot of Vader’s dark tower:
Here’s a towering shot of the Sith Lord himself meeting with Krennic:
A cool angle of an X-wing attacking an AT-AT during the final beach battle on Scarif:
In addition to all of his concept art, Allsopp provided storyboards for the production, including this awesome shot of K-2SO and Cassian Andor in flight:
And finally, this is a stylish poster design that ended up being turned into a shirt instead:
