Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr and Bryan Cranston have all signed on to the cast of George Lucas’ World War Two airmen tale Red Tails.
They’ll join a squad that already includes Nate Parker, Lee Tergesen, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Method Man, Ne-Yo, Elijah Kelly, Andre Royo and Jesse Williams.
Tails tells the story of young black pilots who overcame institutionalised racism in the military and went on to became known as the Tuskgee Airmen.
They were the first African-American fighter pilots in American history and became known for their signature red-painted aircraft tails (below).
Anthony Hemingway is set to start directing the movie shortly in Europe, though Lucas will be heavily involved.
"I've been wanting to do Red Tails for 20 years, and we've finally got the means to showcase the skill of the Tuskegee pilots," Lucas tells Variety. "We're working on techniques which will give us the first true look at the aerial dog fighting of the era."
We’re just happy to see him working on something other than Star Wars.
