Tekken Tag Tournament 2 images “leaked”

Producer gives Tekken fans a sneak peek at the new arcade fighter

Arcades may be all but dead in the United States, but in Japan they’re still a big deal. Coming up this summer is Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which will be on show at the AOU Amusement Expo this week. The AOU Amusement Expo, which is scheduled to open to the public later this week at the Makuhari Messe in the Chiba prefecture is a gaming convention with a focus on everything new and exciting in the world of arcade gaming.

For those of you who can’t make it to this year’s AOU Amusement Expo, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 producer Katsuhiro Harada “leaked” some sexy screenshots of the arcade cabinets that will be playable at the show.


Above: With disclaimers reminding you that this is a “test version” and official links to the producer’s Twitter account, these screens are certainly not “leaked” in the traditional sense, but they’re still awesome


Above: Looks like the final fight roster is still a secret. Gotta love the mosaic filter. We're guessing that you can expect to see everyone from all the previous Tekken games and maybe a new alternate costume for Mokujin


Above: Honestly, Heihachi and Xiaoyu are our favorites in Tekken 5 and 6. We can’t wait to try them in the new Tag Tournament



There has been no official release date set for the expected console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, but Harada has previously hinted via Twitter that the game will come sometime between Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter with extra console exclusive characters and bonus gameplay modes.

    wooohoo! can't wait for this to come! last tag tournament was good so i'm hoping this will be a T5 / T6 version of the old tag... so, better graphics + gameplay + more characters + new costumes! and i'm with you GR, Xiayou has been my character since her debut in T3 and will always be my main character in Tekken...

    Wait wait wait - BETWEEN SFxT and TxSF? Aww NOOOO!! I thought this was supposed to come out fall of this year, but now I'm going to have to wait till 2012 to play another game with the Tekken crew? Well that sucks ass-balls.

    Considering Tag was, for me, the last good Tekken game, this may grab my attention, wait and see though. I feel the series got seriouosly wrecked by too many unneccesary add-ons, a constant unbalance in enemy difficulty (You want to play 'easy'? Ok, we'll just turn it onto very hard after a few battles!) and a high focus on customisation over streaming the content...

    tags where it went wrong for me, lost a lot. but it'll b interestin where they can try to get this one right. loved the old ones so fingers crossed.
