Mario Kart 7 comes out this weekend, so what do you think we talk about? A lot of things, actually - we go over Mario Kart 7 and talk about comics, cartoons, and movies while discussing the The Top 7… Comic book games that need to be made. We also go off on a lot of tangents while discussing other random games and the death of one of our favorite comedians (and one of our favorite old magazines). Yeah, we're getting close to winter break, so our minds are sort of wandering. 

In the Community

The question of the week was "What game will you be playing during the break?" and there are a ton of answers on the forum.

And fan art has had a nice resurgence! Check out the gallery below for awesome art from codystovall, Soggysage, Stabby_Joe, and soren7550 (we have to admit that our favorite might be Soggy's color Kratos, though the others are fantastic as well).     I’ve been buried under grading 100 Freshman math students’ tests and projects (Gaaah! It’s like they’ve never taken a college class before!) for a month or so, so I just want to check in and say to the TalkRadar crew that I love TalkRadar (and Laser Time). Thank you, gentlemotherf*ckers. You keep the gun in my mouth un-cocked.

    I remember the Scholastic book sales! That's how I got all my Calvin and Hobbes collections and Captain Underpants books.

    But on the topic of magazines, I used to read GameInformer when I first got into the gaming scene. I remember how it took a lot to get her to pay for my subscription. Back then, she wanted me to only read National Geographic (little did she know... boobs).

    Also, I really should finish Earthbound so I can get started on Mother 3. It sounds really cool.

    Please please PLEASE do a Game Players reunion. I read it as a kid, followed it to Ultra Game Players AND I followed Chris Slate to PSM (with Eric Bratcher??) and feel like he was a driving force behind both publications, especially seeing as UGM went under like within 6 months or something crazy once the Scotsman took over and immediately got deported (not sure if that is the real story but I would LOVE to find out how wrong I am from the horses mouths themselves). I fondly remember the all neon pink page in each issue with the backwards writing and crazy comics featuring Bill Donahue ranting about things (he's a big Raiders fan right?).

    This site has filled the (Ultra) Game Players sized hole in my heart but it was the magazine of my childhood and it would be great to revisit it.
