      I haven't played them yet, but aren't the Mario RPGs made by Square Enix? Also Dragon Quest VIII was made by Level-5, I think. Also Persona 4 Arena is getting quite a big hand off to Arc System Works doing the game now, with Atlus themselves doing the story.

      I'm waiting on Tina Armstrong myself. She's been my fave since the Dead or Alive 2 on the Dreamcast. I also really hope they don't turn Zack into some muscle-y crazy guy like 90% of all black characters in any game. Hopefully Hayashi isn't missing the point of the characters that much. Zack is supposed to be Dennis Rodman, not Mr. T. Dead or Alive: Dimensions, while not a bad game, still played like DoA "light" to me. I'm hoping this will be more like DoA4 than the new direction. I also hope they tone down the ninja hierarchy and woman hitting in the cutscenes. Ryu, Hayate, and Jan Lee all struck their females companions down at some point in Dimensions. It's honestly really hard to tell what is going on with Dead or Alive at this point. The series has always be pretty well balanced. Then Dead or Alive Dimensions came along and changed that. Characters became extremely slanted and the inclusion of bosses as roster members was just damning to the game's online. Not to mention the fact that countering was made completely spammable and ruined any sense of actual player skill needed to win. Dead or Alive 4 was the best in terms of balance in my opinion, but it and Dead or Alive 3 are usually the two titles in the series that are up for debate when it comes to that. From what Hayashi has said, the game should be closer to Dead or Alive 3, but I'm still holding out my doubts. If it was Itagaki behind game, then yes, I'd tell you to purchase it in a heartbeat. But this is: "I don't know what even in the ### I'm doing Hayashi" and I honestly think he just hates Team Ninja at this point. I think I'd be better off just waiting to see what happens and go from that. I know it's a fighting game, but come on, everyone knows that the fighting and cutscenes take place in two different planes of existence and yet will function hand in hand with one another.

      I certainly wouldn't mind, seeing as there hasn't been a new VF game in a while what with Sega just updating VF5 a couple of times instead. It may be the closest we'll get for a while. I also agree with samsneeze that Ryo would be awesome. He could kick some ass in Shenmue just as well as any VF character, so it's not as if he wouldn't fit in.

      Hmm, this Akira thing is kinda crazy. Haven't played DoA a lot since 2 (which I got with my PS2), played a little of DoA3 but really enjoyed DoA2, the combat system was good and I thought the game was always good-looking even compared to some later PS2 games. Hopefully this comes through well.

      I didn't fully agree with Itagaki's design. I loved his style of gameplay but feel it lacked progression from 1 to 2. I don't feel slowing down the combat and adding QTE to a game makes it classy though :P

      And then there is the whole "making the game serious business." Dead or Alive was never meant to be taken serious. It already told a rather competent and coherent story, then, once again, Dimensions came along and jumbled everything together trying to fit it in one game. And they turned anyone not part of the main story into air head one note, dumbasses. Hitomi is a vapid fan girl. All of the men have no problem knocking the women down for talking. Leon is treated like he doesn't exist. Bass is just there to growl. I can't even remember if they even used Tina in the story or not. What about Zack? Is he supposed to be serious too? He's supposed to be Dennis Rodman at the peak of his insanity. There is nothing to take serious about that. The list goes on. Dimensions is not a clear representation of what the series is at all and is just a blueprint for whats to come. “like a magazine for high school kids, with women portrayed in that sense. But that's not what we want.” Wait, what? Did Hayashi ever even play a Dead or Alive game? I mean, I could see where he's coming from, but the women in the series were already plenty strong before he started to make them depend on the men. No seriously. Tina wasn't just some model because it's sexy. She was a model because she was ambitious. She wanted to be something her father could be proud of, although he just wanted her to lead a simple life. This is reinforced by the fact that she lost her mother at a young age. Then there is Christie, who is a fucking assassin. She killed Helena's mother and later became "friends" with her as part of her contract with Donovan. Helena, after losing her mother and having to take over DOATEC, spent her time trying to fix the things she and her family had done. Kasumi and Ayane are the best examples. Kasumi left her village on her own after her brother Hayate went missing during the first tournament. This would mean that she could never return and would be hunted for the rest of her life. Ayane was charged with finding and killing her sister Kasumi. This didn't bother Ayane because she had a growing resentment for Kasumi due to the way she was treated. Ayane is Kasumi's half-sister and her father is Radou. Radou raped Kasumi's mother and was subsequently booted from the village because of it. That and the fact that Ayane was cursed at birth and has the eyes to match. So yeah, there's that and about twenty other characters with great back stories going for them already. Hayashi just wants to turn Dead or Alive into a fanfic and Team Ninja into a joke of a development team. People who say Team Ninja is better post Itagaki are just wrong.
