Nice to hear from someone at Namco since I was worried they would probably follow suit from getting into bed with Capcom. Now if only Tekken would drop the silly "Streets of Rage" style story mode and give us something more along the lines of Mortal Kombat which encompasses all the available characters instead of some tedious newbie like Lars. Otherwise I'd love to see a return to "unlockable" characters as opposed to giving us 30 to choose from right from the start. I'd rather have say 14 and complete arcade mode with a certain character to unlock their counterpart. Such as beating the boss with Nina to unlock Anna etc. That way, the single player would have a bit more longevity with the ability to double the roster with unlockables and a playable boss character. Soul Calibur sort of did it but only with rubbish mimic characters and "dark" versions of existing ones.

"Nice to hear from someone at Namco since I was worried they would probably follow suit from getting into bed with Capcom." I mean to hear that he's not comfortable screwing the fans over like Capcom have been doing.

OH NO! ...I'm sorry, I had to. It's what I think every time I hear his name. But seriously my best wishes go out to him as well. Ono has inspired me to love a good, passionate fight, so I know he'll fight through this.

Despite all the negativity in these comments, I'm quite looking forward to all this content rollout. Some more free gems and colours are welcome, and the tournament patch will hopefully improve the interface (yes perhaps that should have been better from the off but at least they are doing something about it). As for the paid content, I have no problem with it other than I feel there ought to be a way to purchase the new fighters individually - I want all of them but I get that most people may only want one or two, and asking for that much just for the ones they want is silly. That said I don't think that the character bundle is overpriced - there's certainly not a shortage of characters in the game (with the new 12 it will be one short of the largest fighting game roster I believe), although the fact you have to wait so long for them is a little ridiculous. And complaining about the price of skins is ridiculous - they're a vanity option which changes nothing about your character, just look at League of Legends where you can pay way more for skins (yes it's a free-to-play but the point stands, cosmetic stuff is supposed to be expensive because it's for people to show off their "commitment" to a character; whether that's a good thing or not is for another debate). As to them being on the disc, I'm far happier with that than what happened with Mortal Kombat. There were so many online issues resulting from the downloadable characters and skins not being on disc, and you can't rely on people downloading "compatibility packs" because a lot of them just won't realise that option is there unless you force it upon them.

This is gettting rediculous. Especially with Super Street Fighter IV. They charged $40 for the game after charging $60 for the original unlike Sega who charged just $20 for Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. Then, they charge $40 for the Arcade Edition. Sure, that's a bargain if you didn't own SSFIV, but $5 than purchasing the DLC. Then, GameStop drops it to $20 while Disc Replay sells used copies for $15. Yet they both sell used copies of SSFIV for $20. Except Sam's Club which charges $15 for SSIV, but why is SSFIV more money the Arcade Edition which is two games in one?

I'm not a brain-dead 11 year old, so I can't stand fighters, but I would consider getting this game now just for the facial reactions. And would be better with cued music. Not just sound and effects, but actual songs. Would be classic if, in picture 9, when you did that, The Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" played.

I'll dodge the trollish personal attack towards me and just follow up on a few points. Let's say you bought a music CD with 10 songs on it, took it home, and put it in your CD player. You end up only getting 7 songs, with the other 3 instead being a message that you have to pay extra to hear them. Consumers would have a fit. Why is this behavior acceptable when it comes to video games? Gamers are united in that they don't care? I think this is the real problem. Perhaps if more gamers realized they were getting screwed over like this, they would be more inclined to do something about it.

Sorry but there are holes to that theory which Capcom is using. First of all why not just have everyone download the files through a patch and then you wouldn't have to worry about one player not having the new characters/animations. For example the Fable DLC for Fable 2 were all the same size. Even if you were getting the compatibility DLC or the unlocked DLC you could play with a player who has the new content or not. Second, ok I'll grant you that this can work out but why make your fans, people that are picking it up not only on day 1 but also new, have to pay more for this convenience and content that is already paid for. Make the DLC free for owners of the game and I think this controversy would end.

You're missing the point entirely, Justin. First off, hard drive space? That's a load of shit, let's get real. And, "playing with people who haven't bought it"? There's a little concept called "patches" that works just as well. There is NO excuse for this. The DLC characters exist (Or, are supposed to) because they are extra content to be added after the game's release, to freshen up the game. If they are already completed and on the disc, it means they could've been in the game originally. But instead of keeping them in, they locked them out, so they could jew you out of some extra cash. Makes sense? Preferable? Are you retarded, or just well paid off? Seriously, Capcom is going to get away with this bullshit again and again because of people like you. I have never posted an angry comment at a journalist before, but goddamn. Your idiocy has successfully angered me, sir. Well played.

These games are getting progressively more annoying. Too many different super attacks and crossovers and gems and easy combos and all the other bullshit. Doesn't help that the 360 controller is useless for fighting. Pissed me off that the double button presses are wank too. Kept getting beaten online because the input for changing characters is so clumsy and unresponsive. In a split second game, it doesn't help at all when one button doesn't quite click and you end up punching because of it. And no way am I paying for a fight stick. Developers NEED to understand that they're not making games for arcades now and adjust accordingly. Please, Capcom, just go back to the old days. One super and that's it. Street Fighter Alpha 3 was a FAR superior game to all this modern shite you've released.

I'm really starting to hate Capcom's nickle and dime policy. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the company that made the Smurfs iOS game but with games you usually get a sense that the PUBLISHER is forcing the nickle and dime policy instead of the developer. Look at Mass Effect. Before EA Bioware used to deliver full game experiences right out of the box. And yes, you can argue that DLC wasn't common when the first Mass Effect came out but it wasn't uncommon either. After all, this was after horse armor came out.

don't forget about the gems. basically this game has shitloads of gameplay-altering DLCs. it's the most incomplete capcom game yet without DLCs. A new low. too bad because it's such a cool crossover, and I even trust these guys more than Namco to make a better crossover. too many businessmen in capcom office and not enough gamers. not gonna buy this new, cap's gonna get my money through DLC.
