SSX can keep dubstep, drum and bass should be for action sequences (Metal Gear Solid style) and Gears of War games should stick to that orchestral feel. I'd hate to have Marcus say the F word then have some WUB-DUB-DUB-DUB-WUUUUUUB sound when a locust jumps onto the boat.
Dubstep is now the new-cool genre. I hate it. It's only good for feeling awesome or parties, nothing else.

Im not a fan of dubstep, infact if it doesn’t have a guitar and some element of musical talent (writing and playing) im not interested. I guess im just out of touch, afterall im in the 'over 30' bracket...
On a serious note, as long as the wub invasion is limited to games trailers only I honestly don’t mind. Its once ingame music is taken over we need to start worrying.
Unless its handled like SSX. With the custom soundtrack I don’t have to listen to a droning wub wub wub noise, I can listen to my Killswitch Engage back catalogue as I hurtle down a mountain at eye melting speeds.

I think I have a brilliant idea for dynamic music in an action-RPG. You know how in Kingdom Hearts you have that annoying sound play when your health is low? How about, instead of that, the music changes to dubstep just to piss off people who hate dubstep, but piss them off in a good way! Everybody else would get a good laugh or two!

You actually do have the option of just roaming around and going wherever you want. If you go to "Explore" on the main menu and choose a region, choose a course to run, at the bottom of the screen, it should tell you that if you press a certain button, you will be able to just roam around on the game. It says "free ride" or something like that.

An embarassment of a game from EA. Worst part is, it almost took them ten years to "refine" this game. The most unexusable part is their use of the word "Explore". It's not part of this game in the traditional sense...ie, you cannot just wander about doing what you want (as in Amped). What they mean by "explore" is still limited to two different styles of boarding: racing or tricking. No explore mode of any kind here. Why did it take them so long to put this game out?

Hey Gamesradar.
Did you enjoy trying to win a race in the dark, with nothing but a flashlight strapped to your head in a tunnel full of fucking crevices, where you can barely build up boost?
Because I fucking didn't.
I really recommend a rental on this one, frustrating ain't the word.

That. Looks. AWESOME!!!!
I love the demo that came out this week but there's not really much need for the wingsuit on the runs there. So glad they included "Classic" controls as well. The new controls work ok but I much prefer the ones I've been playing for ten years or so.
See you all on the slopes next week!

I like that even though using the wingsuit preserves your "Super Tricky" level, you don't actually gain extra points from using it. That way online players won't be able to spam it in order to boost their score.

I hope this demo turns me around on the game. The videos of a single snowboarder riding down a lonely mountain, with nothing but ghost images of 'best times' isn't doing it for me.
Where's the satisfaction of speeding passed another rider because they made you bail early on in the race?

There are many gameplay videos of actual races against CPU players.

8/10 -at-best niche game? The series has some AAA title's and every game besides SSX Blur is reviewed with 8+, and the first 3 titles are 9+ titles. Niche? GTFO, the series has well over 10 million titles sold, the first 2 games each sold 2-3 million and SSX 3 sold over 5 million. How the bleep is that niche, and 8/10? GTFO

I'm talking about how relevant I feel it's likely to be in this day and age. In the same way that other franchises have slowly become less relevant and exciting - Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect are new for this generation and we're better off for it, whereas, say, Tony Hawk or Medal of Honour never really made the jump to gen 7 and got left behind. Based on my judgement of what I've seen so far, I think it's unlikely to succeed commercially despite having an excellent soundtrack and probably very exciting and badassy gameplay. No matter how it's reviewed or percieved, the series' continuity is predicated on its sales success, and I simply think it's had its day. Just remember what else you enjoy that IGN gave an 8 - you can't say that's bad, just not a 4m+ charttopper. Other games that fall into the 8-not-great category include FF13 and 13-2, PoP Sands of Time, Resistance 1, Prototype, Tekken 5 etc. Undoubtedly games with serious merit and that certain groups, including me, adore. You just can't pretend they're gonna be the same chart toppers they were 5 years ago, or an instant success because of a reboot or redraw. Not trying to induce rage, just trying to explain my own views. By the way, I don't like the way things are going, just analysing what IS happening.

tbh, I'm most excited about the soundtrack than a 8/10-at-best niche game. New, specifically commissioned original tracks from Camo + Krooked, Qemists and Amon Tobin et al, + Noisia, Digitalism and Flux Pavilion on the soundtrack. Might be more badass than truly enjoyable.
