Why do cart games have so much locked content? If they must lock some things, make them unlockable by hours played or something other than completing solo story mode. I almost never play cart racing games by myself. The whole point of cart games is to have fun playing with friends and family. And I want to be able to access all of the tracks and characters with them.

I'm glad you included that last slide, Justin, because I didn't want to sound like "that guy" for wanting to say "NONE OF THEM!" As far as I'm aware all 3 of them have varying amounts of flaws that knock them quite a few notches behind any of the Mario Karts (7 is fantabulous and I still get plenty of play time out of it). If I were to try any of them it would probably be LBP, but then, since I still really like ModNation I may as well just play that again instead, seeings as the track editor is where most of the longevity comes from. Plus, I absolutely cannot play F1 Race Stars because my brother is a proper hardcore F1 nut and the game's existance actually completely offends him. :/

I don't know how they could leave out Vectorman in a game about transforming, since that was one of the things he did best. Toejam & Earl would be awesome too.

"But it's a work in progress build" - You know, as cynical as I can be when it comes to video games the one thing I don't do is criticize a game that's not a finished product. It would be like playing an MMO beta and criticizing it because it wasn't fully optimized yet.

It's the elephant in the room - the whole 'look down' at the tablet while playing has 'played' poorly on test and looks like it dose not add, but detracts, from the majority of games using this element (see ZombiU video) - also the inability for a second tablet to be added without some performance impact was a shocker. Fundamentally, Nintendo are laying on the heavy pressure to ensure that the Wii-U is received the way they want it too (with the help of the ugly face of the Nintendo fan-boys)! Would not be surprised if an official statement is released about the frame -rate issues seen on a number of games at the launch - and the avoidance of multi-play demos! Could we be looking at a accelerated release plan, as a means to get the system out there and establish the DLC avenue, before the serious issues got too much airtime?

How do Blue Shells in Mario Kart relate in any shape or form to cocaine? None of the items stated in the above games, have any relation to the shape or effects of drugs, did you run of unfunny jokes for the next article? Also, I just noticed more people hate on the writers on this site than praise them; maybe I should leave this site for good, seems to heading that way for me!

I for one am very psyched for this. I am one of those people that didn't really grow up on the 2D sonic games, and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was the first game I bought for myself on my Gamecube. The way Sonic Adventure played was so much more exciting than the newer 3D installments (That includes Generations) I just feel that with the skills you could learn and so forth it inspired exploration and made me want to go through the levels several times to try and achieve a high-score. Achieving an "A" in a level was an accomplisment rather than a given for not messing up your run of a stage. Last but not least is the Chao garden. It is probably one of the sole reasons that I went through the same stages in sonic HUNDREDS of times. I was rewarded with not just a token, but with things I could use to upgrade my cutesy and incredibly diverse critters. To not bring this back into a game is a dang-near crime. So hearing of this rumor does have me excited. Let's just hope that if they decide to work on it they do it right.

David, I really like your articles and reviews, but can we please be over with the "Sonic has become crap over the years" bit? No one, not even the most loyal of fans will argue you that Sonic '06 is the lowest point in the series and that it took the franchise years (and a handful of mediocre to bad games) to recover from that, but the argument is getting old. Colors and Generations, 'nuff said.

The first game was good, nothing fantastic, but solid fun at it's core. Judging from this preview alone the sequel is looking to be even better, so I'm looking forward to playing it. It sounds like they want to do a lot more with the transformations than Mario Kart 7 did, which should offer more variety and a good reason to play this over MK7. That and the beehive is avoidable, so that automatically gives it some cred. Also, Gilius Thunderhead and (presumably) Knuckles are in it...what's not to love?

it's funny joking about this stuff but in reality i would love to play as a bad guy for once, and no not a bad guy character who ends up being lovable. but a real bad ass, to me the bad guys always seem alot more fun than the character you play, or in films the enemy is always seems to do wot the hell he likes it be ace controlling an empire of badies. why is it most games you play as the hero or bad guy but your always on your own, yet the people you face is always an organisation.
