This was one of the first games I bought on my Wii from the VC (I'm too young to have played the original release) and I still haven't beaten the thing. I think I got to the last dungeon, but I'll be damned if I ever try the Second Quest. It's too hard! =p

well in my case my NES is a pain in the ass when i try to turn it on. but the other day i managed to play some smb and it was awesome, but it felt as bit old on how mario was controlled, i have grown used to movement being perfect and precise so i kept dying in the most absurd situations because the response from the character was not fast enough. needless to say it was fun but frustrating.

I think this is more decrying the faults with ancient hardware rather than the games themselves; a lot of retro games are available on WiiWare and most of the problems listed here are gone; for much older games like NES and Master System, it's worth just using a PC emulator with either an original controller and adaptor or a USB replica, not to use all the fanciest filters under the sun but to smooth out the rough edges that came with the hardware of the day. Castle of Illusion is still very much playable as a game, I can tell you that.

Japanaman Sorry, but the Drake game was a major fail. 1989? Really? The Gameboy didn't have pre-rendered graphics until 1994.

I'm sure there was some footage of a rebooted streets of rage a few months back. Didn't really gather anything from the footage but it is a series I'd love to see return somehow. The warriors released by rockstar on ps2 was the nearest to a 'modern' streets of rage game I felt.

You can unlock the first boss as a playable character, all you have to do is hold attack after you beat him once the black screen with the score comes on you can let go of attack. To select him you have to die he is shown as a "?" when selecting your new character. Also to get Roo all you have to do is beat his "friend" with out finishing off Roo. These both work on the Xbox versions

Streets of Rage 2 is still the best 16bit beat-em-up of all time. SOR 3 was just poor in my opinion. The visuals/animations were not as smooth and crisp as it's predecessor, and the music was horrendous. Still, a nice slice of retro gaming, and worth playing to the end to witness the finale of a classic series.

I used to play Super Mario Bros. with my older brother and always wanted to play as Luigi (being the younger brother). But in the original NES version, you only alternated when one player died, so I had to sit for almost 15 minutes every time waiting for my brother to die just once. Yet I still always picked Luigi. Such is the power of Weegee.

i remember i didn't have the game when it came out, but this one kid in my friends neighborhood had it and so my friend got to go over to his house and play it all the time. so i had him draw all the levels he could remember on a bunch of pieces of paper for me just so i could sit and stare at them when i was at home. i don't remember when i eventually got it. but i beat it. and it's actually my favorite mario game ever.
