      Are we sure that there's room in the market for another console? As it is, I am a big fan of the OnLive console, and I can't figure out why that hasn't taken off! I guess that I have a tough time figuring out how this "steam box" can do much better. We have an inexpensive platform for playing pc games on a tv right now, and it's not nearly as huge as I thought it would be.

      I personally hate the idea. I'm a PC gamer. What I love about PC gaming isn't upgrading my rig, which is never quite good enough. It's not even rubbing how much better the graphics are in console gamers faces. I love two things about PC gaming: The practicality and the totally open mod base. Practicality? I work on my PC (I run a website). I study on my PC. I talk to people on my PC, I learn on my PC, and I play on my PC! It's the convenience of having that choice to play a game for a short while, and then switch instantly to any document. And the mods! I would not TOUCH this box without nexus. Skyrim vanilla? Nothing. With 100 mods you can make it incredible, and improved by the fans, for nothing at all. Why wouldn't you want that? It's bastardised PC-gaming for console gamers. Not a new way to unify PC and console gamers alike, and I can only hope it tanks, and hard.

      Practicality? This works just as well as your computer! The Steam Box is for your free time. You can still sneak in your games on your computer during work, but the Steam Box is for enjoyment. Don't forget that! As for mods? Steam just has to incorporate the Steam Workshop to the point of browsing and installing!

      I love my PCs but I find it hard to compare the experience with my consoles. I remember growing up patching everything, tweaking this and that to get games to play, and dreading the games that would not like my video card for some reason. I recently bought a PC that I could easily upgrade for Diablo III but aside from Abobo's big adventure and buying a bunch of cheap games on Steam that sit in my owned games tab, I don't really play my PC. I like turning on my console, putting in the game, installing if it's something I am really serious about, and playing. The patching and the tweaking and the unpleasentness is all taken care of. Unless it is free, completely out of left field, or PC exclusive I simply don't have the time or money to stay on top of PC gaming.

      I think either consoles need to become more free or pcs need to become cheaper. I'm buying a pc for gaming.. Now I know it's not as much if you build your own but buying a premade pc for gaming is expensive.. The day I can buy a pc for 600$ that is already built and plays everything on ultra I'll be a happy man.

      I was thinking about the increasing prices of console hardware for the manufacturers the other day. If they already sold the PS3 and 360 at release not making any profits, can you imagine the next gen ones? I think this is the biggest reason they want this generation to last for long, they will need quite some money to make the new hardware prices lower than they should, since the big money comes from the royalties of gaming sales. It's also something quite interesting, I don't think there will be a crash or anything but maybe the focus won't be on graphics in the future but in digital stores, selling games directly from the networks and so on.

      There's been a lot of fantastic Downloadable games this year. Just to mention a couple, Bastion will definitely make it onto my top 10 overall for the year, and I put over 30 hours into Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and loved it the whole way through. Just started Stacking and I must say I'm really liking it so far too.

      Your review is severely lacking. It doesn't follow a free to play model. It is pay to play with a few f2p elements. New players will get a max of 8 cars period. 1 at level 1 and 1 at each 5 levels after. Those are the only ones a free player will ever have access to. The rest are pay. The top class cars being the most expensive at around 20 bucks each. The tracks are all free. The only thing credits are for is for upgrades. That and the occasional paint or decal that is actually available with credits. The auto tune option? There is no auto tune. You buy parts and it adds them to your car. You can't tune yet. Might not ever be able to and if you were able to at some point it's likely going to be pay only. "It's looking surprisingly full featured for a free to play game" Looks like they fooled you as well. Oh and if you don't like the pay to win model they switched to. The representatives will pretty much tell you to leave if you don't like it. If you like pay to win games like NFSW this is the game for you. At least with NFSW you could actually buy a few cars with credits.

      Seems like a pretty interesting game, especially if it's planned to be a free to play. Without my Forza 4, and my main interests in Trackmania mainly being just the puzzle modes, I'm certain I wouldn't mind trying this out.
