"Bioshock 2 feels like a fairly insignificant expansion". Didnt you guys give bioshock 2 a 10 a few years back? I actually liked 2 more than infinite. Make no mistake I think infinite was great, but given the high expectations I had, it was also a bit disappointing. I loved the ending but the story getting there was a bit vague and impersonal (kind of like the original bioshock, which I also like more). Also the only choices you made in the story (the lottery, slade, the necklace) had no impact on the ending, which always ended up in the same place. In the end though, its the combat that was a major step back. While I have no problem with the series stepping away a bit from its comfort zone and taking pointers from some of the big blockbusters like Halo and Call of Duty, they ended up making the combat significantly more linear and, by extension, unexciting. The vigors weren't as fun (I only ever used hypnotize), the guns lacked punch, and the whole "only carry 2 weapons at a time" thing really bugged me (expecially when the weapons werent very cool). Its just sad in my opinion, that infinite had all of these great things going for it, but it just doesnt all quite come together. Anyone agree?

I'm kinda iffy between 1 and 2. 2 has the best combat of the series, and the most emotionally resonant story, but 1 holds a special place in my heart. and that twist. not even infinite's ending can top that.

I love love love the Bad Company series. The fact that you work with a squad really adds something to the experience. and its funny! Even though its hard to take 'there's GOLD in them hills!' seriously, there is good enjoyability and therefore replayability. Good move DICE.

BTW what does all these new features mean for Co-op? Its a great idea but BF3 co-op was sub-par.

As someone who sucks at games, but nonetheless enjoys them, I feel like I need to point out the fact that it is hard enough for me to focus on one screen without having to deal with any of this crap you suggest be connected to a smartphone, tablet, or vita. The Little Big Planet thing I agree with, but it would be too hard for me to keep up with multiple screens in the midst of any action whatsoever. Plus, what am I supposed to do with my phone when I need both hands on my controller? Put it on the couch armrest? Then I have to look away from the screen for multiple seconds, and I guarantee that I would knock it off at least twice every ten minutes. All that stuff about using a c\second screen to expand a UI is especially bullcrap. I have a 54" tv and a 24" monitor, why would I need a 3.5" phone screen, just put it in the primary UI.
Also, I'm not a paranoid person, but isn't that animus stuff a little bit too Orwellian?

SPORTS...I will use football as a example but it applies to others as well. There are some things that suffer greatly in sports games that next gen can clean up. FIRST...PHYSICS we need to move on with physics in game that can be genuine...next GAMEPLAY next gen needs to address and improve gameplay greatly. and lastly the EXPERIENCE the game in next gen needs to be compelling so that you want to continue to play especially in a league...SO a group of friends get together and want to form a league..Once the league name is picked and the number of owners are established a cap is established for each team, the system establishes a schedule and a draft day is scheduled...AH first issue...10 guys sitting in front of a console for hours picking players? No but this is next gen, you can be notified on phone or tablet that you pick next you can have the AI pick for you based on your earlier settings or you can be notified while your playing another game its your turn..problem solved. Now the scheduling...ah next problem. so.. week one jets at vikings one guy is on ready the other is not ok so the system sends the absent guy a message either via cellphone or on the console. it asks do you want the AI to play for you? How do you want to play it? conservative, all out? or do you want to schedule a time to play? either way games advance every three days or whatever league decides...problem solved. So your team is in the cellar and not playing well, fans are not coming to the games, the AI sends you a message via cellphone time to fire coach? your decision. Your team is playing well and making a playoff push but your star RB just went down, no need to panic enact a trade or free agent pick up via message on cell phone tablet email or console. weather reports for upcoming games come in via cell phone or console message so does injury reports or free agent add or drops and you can even watch highlights of games played so you can prepare your team for next weeks game. If your team makes the playoffs you level up, if you win it all you level up...with things like home field advantage, better field goal percentages, better prepared after practices and easier to add free agents. if you lose you can hire a new coach or gm or just try again. the stats are compiled by SAP and you have access to everything. you can add seats to your stadium, use different equipment such as cleats by under armour or jerseys by nike if you wish with money you earn by ads placed in your stadium or more fans coming to the game cause your team is good consistently. If the physics are life like and the gameplay is good...you have a reason to be always connected and a cause to pay more.

I think I agree with some of the earlier posts, the things described are not really next level. But more reincarnations of existing themes and ideas. It is time to move on. More power better graphics should be a given but it is the experience that needs to be upgraded and freshed out. let us say there is a action adventure rpg. you have your typical choices when you first boot the game such as skin, abilities, gender, race. as you play through the game and you complete tasks you level up BUT...your leveling up and HOW you completed your tasks are being tracked and compiled in a database. SO for the multiplayer aspect of the game which is not mindless old tired deathmatch or CTF but story driven task completion..you can be recruited to form teams...so if you CHOOSE to add your information you can be sent video or text messages in game or via cell phone that a player is putting a team together and needs a sniper or a driver or a warlock etc. so that the multiplayer is online persistent and the completion of THOSE tasks level you up as a team and as a single player. So one multiplayer episodic content consist of three teams searching the ruins of africa for a relic which can change the fate of the world. the first team to complete the tasks gets new abilities, money(in game currency) and level up. so as a single player you get a video message of recruit pause your single player game, and join a team as a sniper and help complete the mission so now as a single player your a better sniper... you earned money and are eligible for next level episodic missions. your ps4 tag shows your level in game and you can be contacted for other missions via cell phone if you so choose. If these consoles are going to be connect to everything and games will cost more money give a REASON why a gamer will CHOOSE to buy in.

Never heard of 'skyboxes' before, but if I've understood them properly here are some I enjoyed:
-Ocarina of Time the sunny freedom of Hyrule Field the first time
-Termina Field with the moon looming in MM.
-Super Metroid, the thundery sky as you come out of the spaceship before entering the caves.

that game is called 'singularity', and i enjoyed it quite a bit. as did dave, if i'm not mistaken.
love this list. i do agree with others about mass effect (particularly the first). say what you will about that game and its evolution, but those skyboxes are consistently nothing short of epic.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the NES.
I expected: Something along the lines of L.A. Noire or Phoenix Wright, where you talk to cartoon legends and collect clues to eventually solve the mystery.
I got: A poor imitation of a Metroidvania game with lots of random punching and an unbeatable final boss.

Not sure about the 1080p comment. You said most, but not 100%, are in 1080p. Yes, most, in fact all of my games, UPSCALE to 1080p, but there are only a handful that are native 1080p, which looks better by the way. We need 100% of games native 1080p not upscaled, as pretty much all of them are upscaled 1080p now. Perhaps not for PS3 as its upscaler's not quite as good but if you have a full HD television it should upscale them anyway with no problem. Also on the graphics subject, we definitely need consistently high frame rates. Also, we need devs to spend more time when they port games from xbox to PS, assuming it'll be the same next gen, otherwise the playstation's graphics will be inferior again despite having the better specs.

Michael Haveri of Frozenbyte Games - “Simply put they’ve told us that there are no basic payments for each patch (which were pretty high on most platforms) and that we can update our game almost as much as we want. For indie developers this is huge.”

David Houghton, I have said it before and I will merrily say it once again, I love you, and I usually never, ever find it in me to disagree with you. But as for point numbers 28 and 35 (slides 29 and 36 respectively), in which you say "Using analogue sticks to play 2D platformers just isn't the same," and comment on a dearth of platformers by mentioning Braid, Limbo, and Fez; continuing by saying "Don't let Nintendo take all the credit for keeping them alive again..."
Come on now, Dave. I know you're better than that. You have heard of a little game called Super Meat Boy, right? And another, not-quite-so-little game called Rayman Origins? Silly Dave. It's okay, you of all people can be excused for being forgetful. I don't hold it against you or anything. :)

Mario was kind of an astronaut, a party host/animal, pro dancer, and according to Mario Party 2, he's a cowboy, a pirate, a space explorer, an archaeologist, and a wizard. He's also an all-star fighter from the SSB series, and literally a pinball.

I'm a little perplexed at the issue of playing sports. I play golf on occasion (or used to), as do other members of my family, but it's never been our job for any of us-- just recreation. I'd think the actual playing of some other sports here would qualify as well.

Um.. as to the peacemaker rifle?
Look up the Metal Storm system. With a rate of fire of around a million rounds per second (Not a typo.) They definitely could build a rifle that fired all the shots in less than a second and now blow up.
Now it wouldn't cause the burning effect, your opponent would be just really really full of holes. And it would be a pain to reload, you'd likely have to replace the entire barrel to reload.
But the rate of fire is realistic... ish.

Samus’ Ice Beam is easily explainable. Just think of it as an Endothermic chemical reaction, and it makes a hell of a lot more sense. All it would take is to store two otherwise inert compounds that when combined suck all of the heat out of the system surrounding it. Think of it like a flame thrower, instead of storing 'fire' in a tank you just store a flammable chemical in the tank and light it on fire after it is propelled forward by a launching mechanism; then you suddenly are shooting fire. Same could easily work with ice.
Store where? I don't recall any tanks of anything on Samus's armor, though I admit i could be wrong... Also, [...]

Also, you got the flamethrower effect if that's how it works. Hope the tanks don't burst...
