Hmmm, I can see his argument, and it makes sense, but I don't know to what extent I'd agree with him. After all, if their initial goal is their original game design, should the rest of the additions not be thought of in a similar manner to DLC? Like, if they pledge more money, they have more of a chance to get additional content, rather than only getting the full game fi they pledge more than their basic goal?

" It's actually been a fairly positive experience, because I run a very open company and everyone knows what's going on." That's pretty easy for you to say, you're not the one being laid off.

Maybe if GPG stuck with what they do best and create their own amazing strategy games this wouldn't have happened. I remember when they were working on Kings and Castles. I was so excited to see what the people behind the legendary Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander franchises would do with a medieval setting. Then they cancelled that to work on Age of Empires Online. A game they didn't even start development on. I WANT SUPREME COMMANDER 3 ALREADY! Stop dicking around with games we don't want.

At first, I didn't realise that said Dungeon Siege and not Dungeon Defenders, because I've been play Defenders lately and love it's mix of Action RPG and Tower Defence, but I hated Dungeon Siege III when I played that a year or so ago when it released, so that was disappointing. I'll certainly keep my eye on it, although it's a pity they didn't have much to show in the ways of gameplay except awkward polygonal characters and concept art.

DS3 was developed by a different company, Obsidian Entertainment. I usually love their more classic RPGs like KOTOR2 or NWN2, but you're right - DS3 was a turd on a stick. SOOOO disappointed.

It seems interesting, but I doubt these kickstarted homegrown consoles would get the following they need from the big developer- at least, not enough to REALLY take off. Because as good as Indie games are, there's only so much I'd be willing to pay for a console devoted to nothing but indie games, especially when I already have Steam for that.

The Kickstarter video is the same as Ouya's. The designing of the product, the way the speaker talks, everything. The interface of the device is the same, too. How are we expected to believe this is not the same product re branded, especially when we've heard little about "Ouya" since it's announcement.

I have seen a first look at ouya It needs batteries for starters, which is already a bad strike. While I see the intention, I don't understand the reasoning but you know what, why the hell not, people are taking risks, whether its for the better or for worse.

Kickstarter is a good thing in certain aspects, but it defers developer/entrepreneur responsibility and the such in a way that if the developer falls, only we pay the price and if the developer succeeds, they gain all the after KS profit and support for the duration of development. Which is a good thing for them, but sometimes it could be misused and not give back to the community that practically sponsored you. Kickstarter is good with limitation, but not something that should be overly used.
