I'm pretty happy with the games I'm playing actually. Give me a good story, a responsive controller and HD graphics (games that came out around the time the 360 and PS3 were released are still fine in my book) and not to much loading screens and I have not that much to complain about. But there will always be something, we dutch are a glass half empty kind of folk.

I'd like to think the situation's better than it looks. A lot of the things here are newly emerging and variably untested. As was stated in the intro, gaming has come a long way over the years, but a lot of these newer "innovations" still haven't had time to mature. Just look at how long Nintendo held off on producing another 3D handheld after the Virtual Boy flopped. The best way to make progress is to make mistakes. I'm sure Nintendo, Sony AND Microsoft can all secretly agree they made mistakes in the whole motion-gaming space (and, say, digital; pricing structures are godawful) and will be working to improve those experiences. However you also have to account for the fact that most of these things probably also seem "trivial", or a novelty, to developers so nobody ever puts as much effort into them as they should. Why bother making the 3D jump out the screen when the vast majority probably won't even realise? However I'll be concerned if next gen machines come out and not a lot has changed.
