Just wanna drop some info out, the older Nintendo systems also had great third party support because devs wanted to put the time into making the games. Devs now want to take the easy route and make games that has the hardware so they don't have to work on making it run right.
"What I have to work on making a game optimized to run on less specs, screw that give me more hardware"
It's a problem with software in general now, we have the ability to just throw hardware at the problem so why should they bother. If devs really really wanted to they could make great games on the Wii. I mean look at the Guild Wars 2 team, they are using older machines to test the games on to make sure it runs on more machines. Not have a game like Crysis that takes a monster of a machine to run (at the time of it's release). I like the company Shin'en because they see the restrictions as a challenge to make better games. But most big studios want to use the easy way out and all these engines that will not go on lower spec systems because the makers won't bother.
Epic games did not want to port the unreal engine on android devices at all, and wasn't going to...that was until the specs were juuuuussstttt enough to port it with out much work.
I can respect a dev who sees the limitation as a challenge to make a decent game. If Nintendo can take the time to make some decent games for these systems why are these other companies not willing to try. This attitude is the reason we have a stagnation in FPS's and other games devs follow in line to make for the cash grab.
I will admit my PS3 gets more love then my Wii, but when a good wii game comes out it is a damn good game.
