Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is free this weekend: play the campaign, multiplayer and zombies for 5 days

It seems like free weekends are fast becoming the new demo disc. Just within the past month we had free weekends for Titanfall 2 and The Elder Scrolls Online. Now Activision is joining the trend with a free weekend for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Beginning at 1pm Eastern / 6pm GMT on December 15 through 1pm Eastern / 6pm GMT December 20, you can download and play all three of Infinite Warfare's modes: campaign, multiplayer, and zombies.

There are limitations, of course. You'll only be able to play through the first two missions in the single-player campaign, while multiplayer and zombies mode have level caps in place (15 for standard multiplayer, 3 for zombies). There's no restrictions on who you can play with though, so if you've got a buddy who already owns the game, you should be free to team up and take on space marines and/or the undead together.

If you decide to purchase Infinite Warfare after the free weekend is over, your progress will carry over. So no worries about losing all of the unlocks you earn over the 5-day period.

Personally, I'm all for these free weekends. With games now constantly evolving thanks to patches and updates, a static demo might not accurately represent the final product as well as jumping onto live servers can. This way, you get to jump in with no obligation, and if you want to keep going, you can.
