Suicide Squad's villains have a history with Batman

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice gave us our first look at Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight in action, and it’s safe to say that his performance was one of the highlights of the movie. The next time we’ll see the character will be in this summer’s Suicide Squad, and while Batman was not familiar with Superman that won’t be the case with his foes in David Ayer’s movie.

“All of these so-called villains are villains that Batman has had some history with and caught and brought into Arkham Prison”, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje – who plays Killer Croc in the movie – told Fandango. “So whether it comes before or after I’m not sure, but I do know we’ve all been captured by him and imprisoned in Arkham, so we’ve all got a gripe to bear against the ol’ Bat.” Check out the interview below…

It will be interesting to see how that unseen history will inform characters’ actions in Suicide Squad, especially if Batman comes face to face with them during the film. It's also important to note that while Batman showed he had no problem killing criminals in Dawn of Justice, he has apparently captured and imprisoned his rogues in Suicide Squad. That begs the question; which side of the moral compass will Batman be on in Ayer's film, and does it take place before or after the events of Batman v Superman? I'm looking forward to the answers.

Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman, Suicide Squad will open in the UK and US on August 5, 2016.
