Strange Wilderness review

It’s back to the jungle for Rescue Dawn’s Steve Zahn, but the starvation and death of Herzog’s POW pic is nothing compared to the depression caused by this tortured comedy. Zahn is the goggle-eyed Peter Gaulke, a low-rent Crocodile Hunter type who sets out with a slumming-it Jonah Hill and Justin Long to save his failing wilderness-themed TV show by trekking to the Andes in search of the elusive Yeti. Or anything hairy and naked, really.

Written and directed by former Saturday Night Live scribe Fred Wolf, Strange Wilderness is a never-ending bundle of self-consciously raunchy skits aimed at under-achieving slackers who are too high to notice how desperately pathetic it all is. Unless befuddled Ernest Borgnine cameos or penis-gobbling turkeys leave you in stitches, this is one trip to miss.
