Last night, GamesRadar reported on a StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm video, which appeared to be a rough animatic for a clip from the final cut scene for the singleplayer campaign. Speculation that the video might have been a fan-made hoax was put to rest after GamesRadar received a cease-and-desist letter from Activision/Blizzard, requesting that the video be removed. At the very least, this confirms that the video was authentic and that it is considered to be property of Blizzard Entertainment.
Do not read any further if you don’t want to risk spoiling the ending of the campaign for Heart of the Swarm.
The video featured a showdown between Arcturus Mengsk and Sarah Kerrigan in her Zerg form as the Queen of Blades. Jim Raynor steps in to lend Kerrigan a chivalrous hand as she finishes off Arcturus. After Arcturus is out of the picture, Kerrigan says “The Zerg are free now, slaves to no one – not even me. So whether they be the bringers of life or the destroyers of worlds, I’ll help them find the answer out there, amongst the stars.”
YouTube videos of the leaked ending are being ripped down as fast as they are being posted. But if you missed your chance to see it yesterday, we’re sure that you can still find it with a little help from a website we like to use from time to time. Kotaku is also still hosting the video at the time of writing.
