Square’s extra "bloody" game trailer

Publisher Square-Enix has just released an extra ‘bloody’ trailer for the upcoming action/RPG LORD of ARCANA for the PSP. The description for the following ‘Red Band’ trailer is loaded with gore-friendly descriptors and terms, like ‘dismembered monsters’ and ‘blood bursting,’ promising that there will be ‘no shortage of blood and guts.’

Maybe we’ve just been desensitized by recent footage of the Mortal Kombat and Fist of the North Star reboots, but the flecks of red in LORD of ARCANA seem pretty tame by today’s standards. You can watch the somewhat embarrassing attempt to shock you below.

WARNING: DO NOT WATCH THIS BRUTAL TRAILER IF YOU ARE NOT A LORD OF ARCANA SLAYER!

Above: THIS IS HOW YOU GIVE BIRTH TO A SLAYER!

Above: This Red Band trailer for LORD of ARCANA is rated ‘M’ because your mom would never approve of all the EXTREME violence packed into this video!

THE AMOUNT OF EXTREME BLOOD JUST RUINED MY LIFE FOREVER. I SHOULDN'T HAVE WATCHED THAT VIDEO BEFORE I WAS A LORD OF ARCANA SLAYER. EXCEPT THERE WAS NO EXTREME BLOOD.

Typical Square trailer. Can't derive a lick of gameplay from it. Just a couple big hits for massive damage, and that's about it.

@nomnom52 I agree. What the hell guys? You let Trailer trash die AGAIN!? I keep getting my hopes up every time you guys revive this series, thinking "Maybe this time, it won't get canceled" but then you go and cancel it! Seriously, TT used to be one of my favorite segments.

God of War: Seriously gory. No More Heroes: Over-the-top gory. This: Bad attempt at both.
  • Bonesqaw - November 3, 2010 12:43 a.m.

Am I the only one who thinks the "edginess" attempt is a parody of such? And thus I find it hilarious
  • Fenny12 - November 3, 2010 12:19 a.m.

    @SideOfBeef I have been shamed.
  • ChipTheExecutioner - November 3, 2010 12:15 a.m.

  • nomnom52 - November 3, 2010 12:08 a.m.

This trailer should be on Trailer Trash Theater. Where did that go, anyway? i miss it. Anyway, I think that it was tame by today's standards, but the blood splattering on the screen has the potential to be very annoying.
  • AdonisX82 - November 3, 2010 12:07 a.m.

That was laughable. Was that supposed to be "bad-ass"
  • SideOfBeef - November 3, 2010 12:06 a.m.

Even after the setup of this article, I'm still underwhelmed by how gory that trailer wasn't. And Fenny, it was slap, not smash. TDAR KNOWS NOTHING!

    I liked it.
