Square Enix registers ‘Final Fantasy 13-2’ domain name, sequel could be announced soon

Good news for fans of Final Fantasy XIII. It appears that Square Enix has just called dibs on the domain name ‘’ The domain name was registered on January 10, 2011 and is set to expire in 2013, which suggests that we may hear an announcement for a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII sometime soon.

It's doubtful that someone is just URL-squatting, as the domain name was registered by Corporation Service Company, the same company that registered the domain names for the official Nier, Gun Loco, and Front Mission Evolved websites on behalf of Square Enix.

News of the registered domain name comes just days after GamesRadar listed Final Fantasy XIII-2 as one of the Top 7 games we want announced in 2011 and only a few days prior to Square Enix’s 1st Production Department Premier on January 18 at the Toho Cinemas theater in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for an official announcement at the annual event.
