MASH-UP OF THE WEEK

Annie’s comforting words to a grieving George in Being Human were a touching and inspired mash-up of Auden and Cheryl Cole: “Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, prevent the dog from barking, with a juicy bone. But know that you are not in this thing alone. There’s always a place in me that you can call home. When you feel like we’re growing apart, let us just go back, back, back… back, back, back to the start. You’ve got to fight…” Next week we demand Tennyson meets Take That… “Half a league, half a league, half a league onward, all in the valley of Death rode the six hundred. This could be the greatest day of our lives.” Maybe Annie could start touring the comedy circuit with this as her gimmick.

RANDOM HOME MOVIES OF THE WEEK

Normally if someone invites you round to watch their home movies, you shudder at the thought of having to sit through hours of grinning buffoons pretending they’re holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa or throwing themselves into the Grand Canyon. But if Warren from Bedlam offers to get out the projector, it’s not boredom you need worry about – it’s not throwing up. This week he proudly showed his daughter old footage of his esteemed ancestors slicing into patients’ brains. Kate clearly didn’t know whether to ask him to pass the popcorn or the sick bag.

CROSS SELF-PROMOTION OF THE WEEK

Supernatural aired a fourth-wall-breaking show last week in which Dean and Sam Winchester found themselves on the set of Supernatural . In this “real world” show, their co-star, Misha Collins, kept tweeting things to his "Mishamigos" on Twitter – which was very funny in itself. But then the line between fantasy and reality blurred even further. Because the real Misha Collins actually tweeted what the imaginary Misha Collins tweeted during the episode. It was like a demolition team had been brought in to drive a wrecking ball through a fourth wall within a fourth wall within a fourth wall. Or something. Here's what he tweeted on the show/in real life:

“Ola mishamigos! J2 got me good. Really starting to feel like one of the guys.”

“IMHO j&j had a late one last night. Rotflmfao!”

And then he said after the episode: “My phone was stolen and apparently cast into a parallel universe devoid of magic. I've retrieved it. I promise it won't happen again.”

And while we’re on the subject of His Mishaness…

“Jared beat Misha in Words with Friends. Misha owed $1970 and paid in coins, 4 buckets worth ... http://t.co/TNJxDFq .” ( Words With Friends is an iPhone version of Scrabble with added high stakes, in case you didn’t know – clearly Jared has the better vocabulary.)

Of course, it couldn’t end there, and Jared exacted his revenge in kind later in the week.

And all the coinage eventually went to charity, because that’s the kind of guys they are. But we can’t help thinking there’s a knackered bank teller working somewhere near the Supernatural studios who now shudders whenever anybody from the show’s cast comes in…

WORST EXCUSE OF THE WEEK

Now, we all know that No Ordinary Family is heading for the axe. And we all know why. It’s bobbins and nobody’s watching it. But the writers this week made an unconvincing attempt to shift the blame onto the show’s star, when George ponders, “It would explain why Jim is behaving like Charlie Sheen.”

MOST ILL-JUDGED APRIL FOOL’S DAY GAG OF THE WEEK

Right, we won’t give any spoilers away here, but if you’ve seen the episode, did you note the date on the videotape? Considering what Walter does later in the episode… well, it’s a bit of a sick joke, isn’t it?

IN-JOKE OF THE WEEK

Hmmm, why do those numbers in Chuck seem so familiar?

GROOVY ART OF THE WEEK
Artist Steven Anderson thinks At-Ats are cool, but could be a lot cooler. And so he’s given a bunch of ’em some pop art makeovers. And they’re wonderful. Our fave is below, but you can see tons more here .
